Us and Sunderland were actually invited to join the Scottish Premier League back in 1992. Boro weren't as they were already in the English Premier League but us and the Mackems were both languishing in te 2nd tier. Was a big Sunday Sun exclusive at the time with the Chief Executive of the SPL saying "Newcastle and Sunderland haven't been invited to join the new English Premier League but they are more than welcome to join ours!" Scottish football was a lot stronger than it is now and away trips to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee would have been interesting (home games v Hamilton and St Mirren not so much so) but nothing was ever going to come of that!

It'll be a no and I think that'll be confirmed by next Friday.

Something happened to Edwards when Bruce was appointed. Always thought he was ok before then.

I've said from the off that I don't see this takeover going through and that's still my stance. Maybe that comes from some sort of inbuilt defence mechanism or that things like this don't happen to NUFC but when it's confirmed as off I won't be all that disappointed (probably glad it's all over tbh so hope there's no appeal). Feel for the lads who were hanging their hat on this though. I can see 1000s just walking away, similar numbers to what did when Rafa was replaced by Bruce.

That doesn't really concern me. North East football is tragic, and has been for a while. Hope Sunderland can sort themselves out. Whatever we think of them they shouldn't be toiling in Division 3. The mismanagement there has been a disgrace really.

I don't really think the report going public matters much, the PL have it, if they have grounds to reject it based on that report they could just reject it. They don't need the report to be public. Also wouldn't make sense for them to be waiting for it while also asking the buyers piracy questions just last week. Premier League just need to cover their arses before rejecting it. Yes, like building houses on the training ground. Hopefully not. NE football has never been at a lower ebb. Darlington and Hartlepool, former mainstays of the Football League are toiling in Non League Football. Gateshead have had loads of problems and have dropped down the pyramid and of the 3 main clubs, Sunderland have never been lower in their history, Boro are a struggling Championship team going nowhere fast and NUFC are happy to make up he numbers and get the financial rewards that the Premier League brings.

Actually starting to feel sorry for these. I thought we had it bad but they take that to a whole new level. Hopefully Donald is run out of town and these Americans who lent him the £10m can get in and do something with them.

Once the WTO report is made public the Premier League will reject this takeover and we can get back to normal. Hopefully the Saudis don't appeal and we can draw a line under all this.

They wouldn't have gone up. They would have had a chance of going up via the Play Offs.

Your posts on Leeds were weird as well, but I didn't follow up on your views about them because people didn't want to discuss Leeds on a thread about takeovers. The irony of someone who was spouting nonsense shite about Disney and Netflix on this thread trying to lecture anyone else about going off topic isn't lost on me

For a complete restructuring of the club from the Academy upwards there's nobody I would trust more than Rafael Benitez with his attention to detail in everything he does.

Bayer v Bayern was the best I've watched so far. Empty seats covered over, crowd noise and a really good game as well.

Think you are kidding yourself tbh. I am very arsed. Have devoted a huge amount of emotional energy once again following this saga, just like I did last year. And even though I feel certain of what is coming I am still dreading the heartbreak of experiencing it fall through. Just hope I can move on fairly swiftly and forget about football altogether. Nah I think I've commented on this thread about 4 times in total, probably about the same on Twitter and it's rarely even mentioned amongst my mates and family or at work. Just not that arsed either way now. It's probably more symptomatic with how I feel about NUFC and football in general these days really. You have commented on this thread 42 times Nowhere near 42 and most of those comments weren't even about the takeover. They were in a separate conversation about the size of NUFC compared to Leeds on this thread. Nice try though lad!
