Club won't see a massive uptick in shirt sales in Korea, and neither will Sports Direct. Sick and tired of this silly stereotype. You know this for sure like? Think someone that was born in SK will know more about it than you tbh. Why's that? I'm British but I couldn't give you the low down on all British marketing trends. Tbf,an uptick of zero to anything can be quantified as massive When you put it like that.....

Will open up more awareness of Sports Direct to the Asian market if nowt else.

Lee? We're the only club who seems to factor in all that so it's a valid question

How much is this going to take out of the transfer budget then when you factor in wages/signing on fee/agents fees? £5m or so?

Need to get another keeper in goal for Tuesday.

Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)
Wallsendmag replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
Ritchie has been one of our most important players since we signed him. Model pro off the pitch and a leader on it. No confidence at all in our ability to attract a better player to replace him with the money Ashley will want to pay. -
Actually they did https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/archive/season-ticket-renewal-deadline-extended Seems pretty common for us. Maybe they should change the date in fact. Did they extend it last summer?
-
Having to extend the deadline for people to renew is usually a sign that sales have been poor. They certainly haven't had to do that the last 2 seasons when sales have been very strong. Around 20k season ticket holders are on the price freeze deal meaning that around 20k people have been affected by the massive price hikes making it unaffordable for many, with many more questioning why the prices have shot up so much when there is so little money invested in the playing squad. I haven't renewed because it's simply too expensive and quite a lot of people I know at work and friends of mine haven't renewed for the same reason and others I know are holding back to see what happens regarding transfers and Rafa. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if almost half of the 20k affected by the price hikes haven't committed to renewing and we're now back to the circa 30k season ticket holders they had pre Rafa. If this is the case the club have backed themselves into a corner with the season ticket pricing which means that matchday prices will also have to be sky high and will put of a out of fans who pay match by match. Put it this way I certainly wouldn't be rushing out to part with around £40 for a seat in the Gallowgate or even more for seats in the East/Milburn Stands for a one off game.

Mine has gone up by £108 since last season. That's all I'm really interested in. For a bog standard middle of the table club £520 is about right, although still more expensive than many PL clubs for a seat behind the goal. £628 is a total piss take. An extra £5.68 per game? Gone from £27.36 per game to £33.05 so aye. Scandalous really and I can't be paying that much for a season ticket. Dread to think what they'll be charging people buying tickets for individual games on a match by match basis. Still at least this extra revenue will be ploughed into the squad to give Rafa a chance of competing with the rest.........

Not that don't believe that these arnt true, but if these posts we're reversed on RTG we'd be mocking them in here like. Most people know that the city of Sunderland is in a right state bit it's still a real eye opener when you see it for yourself first hand. Or maybe I should have pretended it's like Beverly Hills so as not to get mocked on here

We ventured down there a few months ago when our U23s played their U23s and the first two pubs we walked into we had to turn around and walk straight back out as the stench of BO and general muck (the 2nd pub which I think was called the Wheatsheaf stunk of shite as well) and the state of the place is incredible although rather sad that a large(ish) city the size of Sunderland has been allowed to fall into such a state of neglect. I'd be gutted and embarrassed if that was my home city, it's a total disgrace.
-
By the same token I doubt the Aberdeen fans will be ecstatic about having to spend a Thursday night in Burnley either.

Bloody hell they're loaded!

The Sunderland boxer got good support from the crowd, they were on his side as a North East fighter. Obviously Ritson got an unbelievable reception as a Geordie fighter, wearing black and white shorts and fighting in Newcastle. I can guarantee that if it had taken place in Sunderland he would have been booed and that's the difference. Same region but world's apart in just about every way which is why the Newcastle area will continue to flourish and Sunderland will continue to go down the pan.
-
Definitely. Townsend hasn't done anything since he left us and Kenedy is just going to get better and better, absolutely loved it here and fit straight in with his team mates whereas Townsend couldn't wait to get away despite saying he wanted to stay.

Were our tickets really that cheap (outwith the family enclosure) though? I paid £520 last season in the Gallowgate. A couple of my friends in the East Stand were paying £730 And a lad I work with who sits in the Milburn pays over £800. I'd be surprised if, after Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd and possibly Liverpool we're not the next most expensive. Always found the Mike Ashley cheap tickets to fill the stadium model to be a bit of a myth unless you want to sit in Level 7.

£33 a game man. Its fucking awful to watch. Might well ditch my second ST. It's too much for me. Matchday prices will be astronomical as well so I doubt I'll get to many games next season. It's a pity as I've been going since the early 80s and I've had a season ticket for 27 of the last 28 years but it's too expensive for me now. As I said I'm freeing up a cracking seat for somebody else.
-
Not if you can't afford it and prices of between £628-£1,000+ for 19 games of football isn't relatively low to people living in the North East of England.
-
I'm having to make the decision to let mine go sadly. It's just too expensive and that's me priced out. On the plus side, for anyone with a spare £628 for 19 games of football I'll be freeing up a superb seat in the Strawberry Corner.
-
If it's increased by the same % as the Gallowgate and the Leazes it'll be around £850. East Stand will be the same.
-
People on Twitter saying the price of their seat has gone up by over 20% for next season. I'm at work so haven't checked yet but will be disappointed if this is the case. Edit: Mine (Gallowgate) has gone from £520 to £628 for next season.

Think that was the original plan to cut costs but in the cold light of day letting 100s of pissed up mackems loose with power tools would have caused a health and safety headache and they are getting skilled tradesmen in to do it instead.
