How come John Humble hasn't made the list? Surely he's the most famous Mackem who's ever lived.

Just hope this isn't an anti climax on the scale of Friday. It's going to be an amazing sight, and sound if it comes off; http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/half-hour-before-kick-saturday-11727505 -

Agree. Shouldn't even be entertaining the idea of 2 defensive/holding midfielders in this league.

Have to say it shocked me how bad Colback and Anita were on Friday. I thought the Championship might have been their level but they both looked hopelessly out of their depth once again.

Newcastle United vs Huddersfield Town - 13/8/16 @ 3:00pm - No TV

Might as well just play Sissoko assuming he's still here. Even a half interested Sissoko has to be a better bet in midfield than Anita. -
What a weird bunch. The few that do pay for their tickets pay peanuts anyway, yet they were demanding refunds when they got beat off Southampton, now they're demanding refunds if they sell one of their players. Don't think they quite grasp the concept of football. You win some, you lose some. You buy players, you sell some.

Sunderland lining up a swoop for Nyron Nosworthy as Kones replacement I'm hearing.
-
Moyes is safe for this season. They don't have a derby match.
-
There are still bargains out there. All we need to do is stay in the league. We don't expect to win it. What a pointless existence that club leads. As long as they're on the gravy train every year that's OK. No ambition to do anything else. Bad enough when the actual football clubs have this attitude (as we well know) but when the fans share this mindset you have to wonder what the point of it all is. Surely sport is about being the best you possibly can and trying to win things? There's only 3 domestic trophies up for grabs every year so the vast majority are always going to be left disappointed but surely you've at least got to give it your best go and believe you can win something.

What's the crack with the pre match music then? I'm sure I read a while back that the club were letting them choose all that as well. Owt been mentioned? -
Sunderland were sixth in the league and Aston Villa was in the bottom three and they still couldn't keep him Like I said I think the mackems racially abusing his mam had something to do with him wanting to leave.
-
Their gate receipts are only a fraction of what the likes of West Ham and Southampton generate.
-
But how much is that due to the fact that they have never had the funds compared to other clubs, and the fact that they haven't really had an appealing manager to work under? They've paid decent money in the past. Bent cost over £16m with the add ons and was a cracking player for them until it all went tits up when they racially abused his mam.

We got some pretty decent signings in January, and Defoe last year. Defoe was stuck over in a footballing backwater and was desperate for a return to the PL and Kirchoff was a reserve team player who never got a sniff of first team football. Agree they were both good signings mind. Can't remember who else you signed.

No it wasn't, it was started by someone claiming Baltic as a Newcastle landmark. I merely asked how far out we have to go before the landmarks are no longer Newcastle's. I've got to be honest and say I was only trying to claim the fantastic 5* Seaham Hall Hotel and Spa for Sunderland Anyway, the season has started now so we can argue over proper stuff, like attendances, miscoloured seats and who has the best manager Nobody claimed it was in Newcastle, that's just in your head. I claimed it was an impressive structure without any reference to its location then you replied with "shame it's not in Newcastle".

Well we had him, we let him go for nowt and now he's starring for one of the best teams in Europe.
-
Ironic that this specific debate was started by strange Mackem then! True but people seem to just jump at the chance to have digs at him just because he's a Sunderland fan, when generally he seems like a sound lad. Because if you read between the lines of what he says he has quite a few digs at Newcastle Aye he let's his mask slip every now and then. I've noticed that.

Yep. Expecting him to walk straight into the team after that on Friday. -

Haha you've mentioned the Huddersfield crowd more than i have. You've even mentioned it in the season ticket thread. In fact you've even told us all how many Huddersfield fans are coming up! -
If that's the case, start him. Anything for Gibbo to shut the f*** up. FFS. Gibson is a good writer, probably the best one at Thompson House. This.
-
West Durham more Newcastle, East Durham more sunderland. A quick glance at a map will tell you that. Probably but i never realised you could see supporters from a map like. Do they all have their little black and white and red and white tops on? Generally speaking people follow the club nearest to them. Pretty obvious that.
