  1. I've lived in Wallsend all my life (38 years). I can honestly say I've never seen a sunderland fan in all that time in and around Wallsend. Either on the street, pubs, shops, never. Maybe I've been lucky but in a town of 45,000 I reckon you could count the number of mackems on one hand. For some reason if you look on RTG they are always claiming there's loads of Sunderland fans living in Newcastle areas, for some reason it seems to get them all excited although they go into a proper rage when you mention all the Newcastle fans in County Durham. To be honest I couldn't care less. There's far more of us and we are far better supporters. That's the top and bottom of it.
  2. No way should Anita be anywhere near the first XI unless it's as a right back. Better option than Colback, and more trustworthy than Shelvey. Best option for mine. If you count continually giving the ball away and creating absolutely nothing as being more trustworthy I'd tend to agree with you. Personally I'd rather play Hayden and Diame in the middle at home to Huddersfield with Ritchie and Aarons as the wide men. Playing with only ten, or with two up front? Rafa's as likely to do the former as the latter. Bold prediction time: A year ago, half the forum wanted Wijnaldum played as CM (or De Jong) when they are clearly a #10. The same applies to Diame. There's nothing surer than people clamouring for him to be played at CM until one day, out of desperation, he is and people say "Actually, he's quite s*** there". Aye it would be very risky playing 2 up front at home to Huddersfield like.

  4. The thing is I wasn't expecting him to be a ball playing centre half in the mould of Albert or Woodgate but more worrying for me was that he doesn't seem to be able to jump. The amount of times he was beaten in the air (surely that's meant to be the best part of his game) caused most concern for me.

  6. He's your typical Mackem. Can't be objective when discussing NUFC. Just sly little digs throughout which even the presenters picked up on. Won't be watching next week if that little prick is on. Compare with Shearer who even the mackems admit always gives an honest opinion on sunderland.
  7. Remember the 1988/89 season? We battered Leeds 5-2 on the opening weekend and they went on to win the league comfortably. It's a bad result, and I think Rafa got a few things wrong yesterday, but there's still 45 games and 135 points left to play for. was that not 89/90 season, we finished 3rd, missed promotion and got beat off the Mackems in the play offs. Aye it was. We were relegated in 88/89.

  9. He's the softest player we've got. Big lad with zero physical presence. Offers absolutely nothing.
  10. You've got to ring up or go to the ticket office in person if you want to sit in Level 7. They don't sell it online.
  11. I think last night being described as a wake up call is a fair comment, some of out players looked as if they just had to turn up and they would go home with the points. You should never go into any match with that kind of attitude. It shows a lack of professionalism and a lack of respect to your opponents. I don't think there was a lack of effort or a bad attitude, it was just a rank bad performance.
  12. Looked every bit the cart horse I expected him to be after seeing him for Blackburn. Mbemba should be in v Huddersfield.
  13. This. Nowt more to be said.
  14. ...... and the manager Throwaway comment by a 56 year old bloke. Listen, we were absolutely rubbish. No excuses. Let's put it right against Huddersfield.
  15. People react after what they've just watched. And that was absolutely rubbish. I still think we'll go up like.
  16. You do realise there are loads of Geordies who support Sunderland don't you? Good job they do cos not many mackems do.
  17. Go away. You haven't got a clue. Sorry? I said "go away you haven't got a clue". We've just been relegated. That was the wake up call. The captain and manager need to go away (where?) as well then. Totally disagree with anyone saying goes that was a wake up call, you the manager and the captian included. Relegation was the wake up call.
