  2. I was told the end of July when I went up to buy mine.
  3. What a sight that was! Obviously that's not going to happen every week but it would be incredible if we could get something similar going for our first home game v Huddersfield.
  4. It's easy to sit back and criticise from a distance. If it bothers people that much that they're not up to scratch they can sit down and have a go and see if they can do any better themselves. Certainly cheaper than paying experts to do it. Let's be honest here as well they're not pieces of expensive artwork bring displayed at a gallery. They're just there to add some colour to the extra noise that's hopefully going to be generated next season. It's not all that important. My point wasn't "oh I could do better", simply that I didn't like the designs like people have already mentioned. They don't have to be top of the range photoshop designs, but after taking 3k+ you'd expect that a half-decent graphic designer is going to be consulted and some simple, yet excellent banners/flags can be produced. No it's not expensive artwork going into a gallery but if you chucked some of your hard-earned money into this and the result was cheaply assembled tat which looked s***, we would be ridiculed and rightly so. I think after taking peoples money to a project it's important to make it look as great as it possibly can. Disagree. I think you're taking this way too seriously. It's flags at a football match man.
  5. He was here 8 years. In that time he had 3 good seasons.

  7. Ribery is rotten in flag form as well. First thing I noticed there as well, stood out like a sore thumb. worjackie, I assume the 3k+ that has been raised is to consult proper designers and have some decent flags made? It would all be a bit of a waste and make us look stupid if we had rubbish on display (without wanting to sound too much like a dick) like the stuff that I've seen on the site. Or the critics, such as yourself, could come up with some designs of their own. Fact is you're never going to get designs that everyone is happy with.
  8. The fact he bottled out of the last relegation battle says more about him than the fact he was relegated twice. Captain coward is very apt.
  9. Would you still 'love' him if he fails to get us up? Yes because I know he'll have given it his best shot and won't come out with bullsh!t excuses and blame everyone but himself for his failure. Clearly he's an absolutely incredible bloke, not to mention one of the top managers in world football and he's already played a massive part in reshaping the club on and off the field. He's the sole reason why myself and 1000's of others who had previously packed in their season tickets are returning next season regardless of relegation. He's actually made the club worthwhile supporting which we haven't been able to say for at least a decade. We know we won't just sack off the cup completions. No sell before we buy policy. No only signing players with a sell on value. Fuc*ing hell man he's even actively playing a part in improving the SJP atmosphere, not to mention the work he's doing in securing the future fanbase of the club. Whatever happens he'll leave a legacy here for years to come. I've never known people be so excited for the start of a season even though it's in the 2nd division and that's all down to him. Basically he's given us some hope, something to get behind. As a Newcastle fan that's all I really want.
  10. Never thought I could love a NUFC manager in the same way I did Kevin Keegan, and to a slightly lesser extent, Sir Bobby, but this fella is narve going to test that.
  11. Agreed I asked the same question myself a few months ago. It's frustrating, some of them are decent. Imagine the s*** that would be perpetuated should they be unchallenged. You tend to agree with them rather than challenge them tbf.
  12. Used to love watching this little magician at SJP. Now he gets his chance to strut his stuff at the top end of European football. God I hate Pardew.
  13. The forgotten man. Had to go back 5 pages to find the thread about him. Would love to think Benitez can get him fit and we can get a good run of games out of him this coming season. Been very impressed with the way he links up our midfield and attacking play the few times I've actually seen him play for us and he's certainly a clever little player with a decent shot on him. Think he could do well next season if, big if I know, he can keep himself fit. Hopefully the new training facilities and having staff there who know what they're doing can help there.
  14. Since they were asking about pre-game music, any chance of Carina Burana returning as the music for when the players were in the tunnel and local hero for when they came out of the tunnel? Blaydon races just doesn't feel the same. Should get Alan Robson and Barry in the box back as well.
  15. That might have worked pre all seater stadiums when people would get there early to claim their spot but not nowadays. Maybe 5 minutes before kick off when the ground is 75% full they could cut the music and let the fans take over but any earlier than that is pointless.
  16. Here's the link again for anyone wanting to donate a few quid; https://www.gofundme.com/gallowgateflags
  17. Great news! Hopefully the fans in the Gallowgate (and elsewhere) will really get behind this and plenty people will donate to get it up and running. About time we had a bit of noise and colour inside SJP on a regular basis.
  18. It's amazing how often I read this. Where else would he have made 70k a week? Who else wanted him in the summer of '09? No c***, that's who. Good riddance to bad rubbish. At his best he was very good but 2 good seasons out of 7 in the PL says it all. Dragged us down for long enough. Yep. He was a disaster in his first season and stayed after relegation due to nobody coming in for him because he looked so bad and also the ridiculous wages he was on. He was a disgrace as a captain and bottled last seasons relegation big style.
  19. How did it go then? Too busy signing players to have a meeting about flags i guess. Hugely positive meeting with the club today by all accounts.
