  1. It's strange how 15/20k of them always boycott after they get relegated. Happened last time and the time before that as well. Some would say they're just fickle but not me.
  2. Loads of Köln fans in the home end. That'll end well. Not much the Arsenal fans can do about it if the Germans put their towels down first.
  3. The managers he has appointed in O'Neill, Bruce, Poyet, Di Canio, Advocaat, Allardce and Moyes were all met with widespread approval by their fans and on the face of it, other than perhaps Di Canio looked like pretty sound choices for a club like Sunderland.
  4. Fairly certain that's how the outside see Ashley & NUFC so not going to criticise Sunderland fans if they're not happy with their owner's ambition, motives, etc. Totally different. Newcastle are a huge club capable of generating large revenues meaning that Ashley can, and is making money out of the club. Short needs to pump in £30m of his own money every year just to keep sunderland afloat.
  5. Just shows what having a World Class manager can do for a player.
  6. A draw would be perfectly acceptable off the back of 2 wins.
  7. Get in there Daryl son
  8. A mate of mine is there. Text me at half time to saying it was a very poor 1st half and it's no more than a third full tonight.
  9. Aye, it's been mainly PSV and Ajax, with even AS and FC Twente in it since Feyenoord last participated. Doesn't help that our football has turned to s*** and hence only the champion qualifies effectively. AS Alkmaar had a good team for a few years and won the Dutch league fairly recently. Feyenoord hadn't won the league for 18 years prior to last season and struggled to finish top 2 in that time as well.
  10. I often wonder these days if the likes of Colback, Gouffran & Anita have skewed our vision so much that a player comes along, does the basics well and we instantly think he's a world beater Nah we've had some pretty good technical midfielders in recent years to judge against, namely Cabaye and Wijnaldum. Even Sissoko probably wasn't as bad as people made out.
  11. Got mine today. Not really worth the long wait in all honesty.
  12. Went along to Hillheads for Whitley Bay v Newcastle Benfield in the FA Cup. Canny match and an excellent performance from Benfield who ran out 2-0 winners with 40 year old Paul Brayson (ex Newcastle, Cardiff & Reading) lobbing the keeper from outside the box for the first goal after a couple of minutes and he created the 2nd one as well on the stroke of half time. Good crowd of 608 there to see it.

    Bob Concur

Apparently he did a talk in at Nine Bar last night and only 17 people turned up.
  14. He should just resign. He's better than this.
  15. Never rated him and think of him as more of a liability than anything else but I've now seen the incident around half a dozen times and I do think he's been harshly treated. Kane, Vardy, Rooney etc do that (and let's be honest they have many times) they are praised for their determination and desire despite the game already being won. What's that now, 94 Premier League games since we had an opposition player red carded against us and both Spurs and Huddersfield could perhaps count themselves fairly fortunate that they both finished with 11 players on the pitch.
  16. Atmosphere was great in the first half, died away in the 2nd half when we just couldn't get hold of the ball. Spurs fans were terrible, only heard them after they scored their goals and couldn't sell their allocation. Manquillo and Murphy have both commented on how noisy it was so I think it's just a case of the Sky Mics not picking it up properly which applies to all the big stadiums.
  17. Nothing wrong with hammering home the point of how much more loyal our fans are than the other 2 major North East clubs are though. Only on here would people have a problem with that and it's something I've come to expect now tbh. I'll leave at at that.
  18. Very. Gives us a £20m+ head start on them for a kick off. £20,000,000 / (40,000 - 16,000) = £833 per season ticket. Struggling to see your sums working there. We made almost £30m in ticket sales last year. The mackems generated £10m. That gap will widen next season.

  20. 10k more than Sunderland (16,000) and Middlesbrough (14,000) combined then. Let there never be any doubt over who the only truely big club in the North East is.
  21. I don't hate him. He's a good professional, just not a very good player. Rafa preferred Colback to him for the majority of the time in central midfield and as a right back he was hopelessly exposed when up against a decent winger. Fair enough, but I don't recall him ever really being beaten last season. Fulham at home. That's all I can remember off the top of my head, like. Wolves at home he was just as bad. There was also a match towards the end of the season when it looked like there was something wrong with him he was so bad. Preston maybe.
  22. Surely a lot of these things I'm reading from that forum have to be Mags on a wind up!
