  1. Definitely won't be renewing mine if it's the same as last year. Apart from scrapping the ballots they need to allow members to accrue loyalty points or at least reward loyalty.
  2. It wasn't a ballot last season. It was purely 1st come 1st served. I managed to get us 4 seats together for the final home game of last season v Leicester in the back row of the Gallowgate courtesy of having 4 linked accounts and 9 different browsers open when tickets went on sale.
  3. @Heron Scrap ballot. Allocating fans random stands is always going to be an atmosphere killer, and so it's proved. Make entire Gallowgate (12,000 spaces) safe standing. Work with current ST holders who don't want to be part of it to enable them to move to other areas. Set tickets aside for younger supporters. I think they do this for 14-17 year olds in L7 but I'd take it further and prioritise applications from fans aged under 30 for a larger safe standing area.
  4. NUFC away that day, Heaton Stan away as well. I'll definitely go to this. Excellent draw for them as well. Macclesfield will bring loads.
  5. Apologies for the turn of phrase but Matthews is a cancer eating away at that football club. Despite what they say he's very much still involved and was seen taking in money (no card payment of course!) recently from fans who pledged to buy part season tickets and also money from matchday sponsors etc. Feel sorry for their dwindling band of loyal fans as well. There's not even anything on the pitchbto get enthusiastic about. A real shame.
  6. I warmed my North Shields ST holding mate about this back before we'd even heard of COVID. It was clear what was happening. Back in 2018 at a meeting in their clubhouse, whilst pleading poverty, 3 of their supporters offered to chuck £10k in. In return all they wanted was transparency and no say in the running of the club. Unsurprisingly the club told them they didn't want their £10k amd would struggle on. Spoke volumes. Bunch of crooks.
  7. The wheels came off 2 months ago. They aren't getting £25m for him either.
  8. Move level on points with Leicester if they can hold on. Would love to see them come up.
  9. Handy for me like! 25 minute walk. Don't think the wider fanbase would be keen
  10. Always thought the away concourse was a decent size. Been in there a few times, back in the days when away fans were in the L7 corner and always found it decent for space, certainly compared to the likes of Stamford Bridge, Goodison, Anfield etc, and even better than some new build stadiums like Sunderland for example.
  11. Probably an extra 10/15 minute walk from my regular pre match pub so wouldn't change my matchday habits. In fact if they built a new stadium at the Arena site and could get the turnstile queues down tomthe same levels as before this season I wouldn't even need to leave the pub any earlier.
  12. If we were winning things we'd definitely fill 70k even if it was in Wideopen or somewhere daft like that, provided their was a transport infrastructure to support it. It's not something I'd ever want to contemplate leaving the city centre, but I've been to several German stadiums, Schalke, Koln, Leverkusen, Monchengladbach, Frankfurt to name 5 and all big clubs and none of them have city centre locations. We went to watch Monchengladbach earlier this season and it was a 30 minute shuttle bus journey to the ground from the city centre. Apparently they are the leaders in giving supporters the best football experience though.
  13. The reason our attendances held up so well during the shitshow of the Ashley years was due to the location of SJP. People didn't want to give up their day on the drink in the town. Move to Wideopen or some other far flung place amd only continued success would keep the place filled.
  14. No you've not missed anything. Think there used to be Wallsend Town who played at the Barking Dog for while but don't even think they're still going. Agree it's strange that a town of 45/50k people has never had a decent Non League team, especially when you look at many NL clubs who represent much smaller towns and villages, and have done for years.
  15. We could fill 70k every week now if we had the capacity, as a mid table team. Every match has been sold out and apparently the ballot success rate is around 25%.
  16. Thought the number 3 for WA was excellent.
  17. Just back from Heaton Stan v West Allotment. Very Decent game. 1st half fairly even, maybe WA just shaded it but 2nd half total one way traffic heading towards the WA goal. Woodwork hit a couple of times and some herioc defending kept the score at 0-0 until Stan finally went ahead in the 83rd minute. Assumed that would be that only for West Allotment to get a corner 5 mins later which they scored from. 1-1 FT. 2 points definitely dropped for Stan.
  18. I'm going along there tonight. Nice little local Derby to put the night in.
  19. Just got the email to say my application to go to their atmosphere event has been unsuccessful. Ah well.
  20. And that's in the lower sections. Imagine how empty upstairs is!
  21. Yes they built around us when they did the Milburn/Leazes extension and we just got wet. Obviously the derby was the standout game for getting absolutely soaked.
  22. On a serious note though and speaking purely hypothetically here, if we ever did build a new stadium with say a capacity of 70k and this allowed the club to sell another 20k season tickets I'd be all for giving priority to younger supporters to get a bit energy inside the place. At 46 I know this would hamper my chances of getting one but it'd be for the greater good.
  23. I was part of that singing section. Had a great few years up there before Ashley spat the dummy, especially being in the balcony part at the front. However my mates who were in the Gallowgate at the time used to comment that they couldn't really hear us from there, again down to the poor acoustics of the stadium and the noise just getting lost due to the lopsided design.
  24. Aye our East Stand just totally ruins it. Went to Benfica just before COVID and that holds 65k. We were sat near the back and it the view/experience couldn't have felt any different to Level 7 because we had fans all the way around the stadium sat at the same height as us. You really felt part of the crowd. When you are sat near the back of Level 7 and looking out over the town I find I feel totally isolated from the actual occasion. I hate it.
