  1. I'd say there would have been more of the hardcore there on Wednesday. Those who cried for a loyalty points rule change back in 2021 because they suddenly decided that away games appealed to them, but because they'd never bothered before they couldn't get tickets, would have been conspicuous by their absence as it was a "dead" game and that would no doubt have applied to the new waves of You tubers and social media whores as well who've been populating the away ends a lot more these past few years.
  2. I personally think that the strategy they are most happy with is keep supply low and have people paying top dollar for what is currently available. Expect more large price increases next season.
  3. I remember phoning 6-0-6 after we beat them 5-1 in 1993 to rant at David Mellor about Rob Lees disallowed goal
  4. Got to say I had zero enthusiasm for today. It was one of those games where you know what's coming before it happens. We were never going there and overcoming a 2 goal lead. With Brentford in mind I would have been happy if he'd played a 2nd string side tonight. If that makes me a negative nelly then so fuck
  5. Not really. Who's parting with 70 quid to watch this lot?
  6. Can't see why it can't be done. If the likes of Chelsea with a 40k capacity and an even older fanbase than ours can have 12k safe standing spaces I can't see why we can't have 15k out of a 52k capacity.
  7. Needs to hurry up. He'll be retired in a couple of years.
  8. Oh here he is. Sunderland must have won yesterday then
  9. PSV v Feyenoord yesterday. PSV 3-0 up after little over 15 minutes then just coasted it. PSV beat them 10-0 back in 2010 and after 15 minutes the fans were singing about that but it was never on the cards. Feyenoord were absolutely pathetic. Their fans were going mental with their players and Van Persie and even pulled down all their flags/banners during the 1st half. Gave them dogs abuse at the end when the players went over to them. Was nice to see quite a few home fans wearing NUFC scarves/half PSV half NUFC scarves as well. Only heard positive things about Newcastle all weekend.
  10. Voted for the 2nd option in the poll. Happy with him but definitely some gripes. The mistakes made last summer can't be made again.

You being convinced they'll come good doesn't necessarily mean that they will though of course.
  12. Our away games in the PL are a waste of time.
  13. Dunno like Kairat Almaty v Pafos wasn't exactly a cracker. Finished 0-0.
  14. His class has never been in doubt. Fitness was the issue and he's probably played more minutes than they would have liked him to recently. Now Burn is back hopefully they can manage his minutes a bit more now to keep him fit.

    Nick Pope

People thinking we can spend £30/£40m on a massive upgrade on him are going to be left disappointed. Besides I'd rather the money was spent elsewhere on the pitch.
  16. That's as bad a refereeing performance I can remember. Premier League referees are poor, but I genuinely believe that's a competence issue above all else. I don't think they are deliberately going out to cheat. Last night was different. It was blatant cheating. Let's call it for what it was.
  17. We should be filing a complaint to UEFA about that last night. Oh hang on a minute......
  18. Pretty sad but we all know if they are struggling to win this the referee/VAR will make sure they bail them out. Makes it all seem rather pointless tbh.
  19. Expect them to beat Burnley at home.
  20. I watch quite a bit of the U21s/U18s as their home games are a 10 minute walk away and being brutally honest I don't see any of the current crop ever being good enough. Elliot Anderson stood out a mile. He was in the U18s as a 16 year old and looked different class. You could see a mile off that he would make it. Used to love watching him play. Miley was another one. Probably didn't stand out out quite as much for me but you could still see he was going to be a player. There's none of them there that I think the same off and can only assume that's what Howe thinks. These 2 lads could be mainstays in the England team for the next decade which is a feather in the cap for our Academy.
  21. Sick of saying it but the middle tier is the problem. It's full of 60 and 70 odd year olds who've been there since 1994 and now have no interest in singing/standing up/basically making any sort of positive noise. If there was a way of clearing that lot out and replacing them with vocal supporters who will stand/sing etc you'd be onto a winner cos the Upper/lower tiers, corners are fine. Just can't see how it can be done.
  22. Aye the Leazes End became more of the "home" end from 1993. Most the singers moved there when the stand was built and even when the new Gallowgate was opened in 1994 most of the more vocal fans had already settled into the Leazes so it was noisier than the Gallowgate. After the extension in 2000 people started migrating over to the Gallowgate. The high roof made it more difficult to create an atmosphere and that, along with more of the vocal fans moving to the Gallowgate pretty much killed it off. I lasted 6 years and shifted over there myself.
  23. Aye I remember it clearly. Sat in the Leazes End from 1993-2006 and never heard people in there booing if we kicked towards our end 1st half but from 2006 when I switched ends it was immediately noticeable. Got to say though when I used to stand in the Gallowgate in the late 80s/very early 90s, I can't remember any booing if we kicked towards us 1st half.
