  1. Rounded up? Great no problem although knowing how the Trust like to blow their own trumpet I think they might have mentioned that. If it's been rounded down then by how much and who has the surpluss gone to? I'm very sceptical when it comes to the Trust. I've seen a few good lads who were on there who've walked away from it all and haven't wanted to say a great about why. Or maybe it's just that I can't stand Alex Hurst and don't trust the bloke as far as I could throw him.
  2. No I just think it seems strange that exactly £200,000 was raised to the penny. Especially when you include interest on the money. I mean what's the chances?
  3. I'm surprised more hasn't been made of this. For all those pledges over all those months to come to EXACTLY £200,000 and not a quid over is pretty astonishing tbh.
  4. Not sure if megaphones and drums would ever happen here but this season I've been to 2 Bundesliga games and one Eredivisie match where they were used and tbh all 3 grounds pissed on SJP for atmosphere. Bayer Leverkusen v Hoffenheim, hardly a massive game, 26k there.l, small away following. Leverkusen lost 3-0 yet the crowd was jumping all game even at 3-0 down. They have a terrace behind one goal whuch maybe holds around 3k with seating above it and they literally never stop all game. I must say the use of the a megaphone here worked really well. Next up Eintracht Frankfurt v Cologne. Again they have a terrace behind one goal which maybe holds 8 or 9k with seats above it. A megaphone was once again used and the atmosphere was electric. There was a big away following at this one and they also contributed enormously. Lastly I was at PSV v Feyenoord at the weekend. No megaphone but a drum at this one. They have rail seating behind one goal instead of the traditional terracing like in Germany and again they have 3 or 4k in the lower tier behind one goal who never let up all game. There was a fantastic atmosphere at this one helped as well by the 4-3 scoreline I'd admit! Firstly I will say that having a huge area behind one goal where like minded, noisy fans can congregate makes a massive difference. They are very audible across the entire stadium which in turn gets the rest of the crowd up. Secondly the design of the stadium clearly makes a massive difference. All 3 stadiums due to their design are conducive ro a far better atmosphere than SJP is. PSV especially with 4 separate, very steep stands which are all roughly the same height makes it feel like the fans are right on top of the players. It must be a very intense place for an away player. Whilst there's little we can do about the acoustics at SJP I think it's vital we get the noisy fans in a more prominent position directly behind the goal. I've witnessed the impact this can have myself. A couple of hundred fans in the Corner is like a drop in the ocean comparatively and just doesn't have the impact.
  5. And now that we play more on the front foot and have more possession of the ball this should really work even more to our advantage.
  6. Having been to Anfield on around 15 occasions since 1993 I can confirm that their home support is abysmal. It really is a media myth that is still peddled to this day. Our home support is genuinely better.
  7. Totally agree with you about the stadium. It's lopsided design doesn't make for a good atmosphere and with a lot of the fans so far from the pitch. Also because of this it doesn't hold in the noise particularly well. In fact if your outside the stadium during the match it can actually sound louder as I've experienced myself because so much of the noise escapes. It's one of the reasons I'm quite comfortable with the thought of a new stadium (location dependent). I've never really been all that keen on SJP post 2000 tbh.
  8. Not sure about the other 3 stands as I'll only ever go in the Gallowgate End and I was in there for the Crystal Palace match and as a 44 year old I would say more people in there were younger than me, not older. Loads of kids going to the games now as well. Certainly more than I can ever remember in my lifetime so I don't think it's the age profile. I just think football fans generally in our country just aren't as passionate as they used to be. You'd be hard pushed to name a stadium in the UK that regularly has a good atmosphere nowadays.
  9. Worrying that the modern crowd of today need a flag display to get them going though.
  10. Expecting a defeat without scoring. As long as it's not a rout it's not the end of the world. Hopefully have a few back for Palace and with a few favourable fixtures start on another run.
  11. Used to be a song when I started going in the 80s (and it carried through into the 90s) which I can't quite remember the full lyrics to, but it ended with; "We are the Mags, we are the mags, we are, we are, we are the mags!"
  12. Jsut gone past Hartlepool
  13. Whilst the football landscape in the NE stands as it is, their club is basically irrelevant, even to them.
  14. Cried like a baby when Toon Toon rang him whilst he was at a funeral as well.
  15. They'll have to be really, really bad to get relegated from that league. The standard is dreadful.
  16. I hope we get Blackburn away in the next round. We'll sell out the 7,000 away end but there's a chance, a very small chance, but a chance that I'll be able to take my 9 year old son who's a member to his first away game.
  17. Returned 500 tickets against Bristol City on Saturday as well for their first away game back in the Champo. 1k tonight is pathetic for a 2hr journey. We'd have sold out without it even making general sale!

    7th-ometer

I've gone for 8th which seems to be the majority verdict. However if we can bring in another quality attacking player I honestly think 6th is achievable. We're 4th over the last 20 or so games so why not 6th after the next 37? 1. Man City 2. Liverpool 3,4,5 is Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal in whatever order but 6th is definitely up for grabs.
  19. That's the ideal scenario. Safe standing plus an extension of the Gallowgate would take us to around 65k which I think is perfect. Hopefully they can increase the capacity in safe standing areas in the coming years. Watched a couple of Bundesliga games on TV yesterday in Stuttgart and Cologne and they really pack them in behind the goals.
  20. Just reading all the comments from Forest fans over the weekend; "best away trip ever", "drinking with home fans in all the bars in the city centre", "Incredible atmosphere", "proper football city", that's just some of many of them I've read. We'd lose all of that if we moved to an out of town site somewhere and a big part of it if we left SJP. Get the capacity up to 60k and leave it at that.
  21. I wouldn't necessarily say he's the best player in the world, but he's definitely in the top one.
  22. SJP was 99% filled to capacity last season and we spent most of it in the relegation zone. Even in the Championship, occupancy levels were at over 98%. That data all points to a stadium expansion being required. Mehrdad mentioned trying to get SJP up to 60/65k. I think that's about right for us.

  24. Aye they did. Remember them all laughing about someone running to the front of Level 7 and throwing a pocket load of change down onto NUFC fans below and also throwing the flare down that burnt the kid in the wheelchair. Now they cry like bairns when it happens to them the fucking hypocrites.
