If long term it stops it like it largely did in the club game then people have to think about the longer term impact. That said, in the same token the Russians need fucking crucifying. It's pretty evident there have been weak decisions in terms of policing and actions by respective FA's/UEFA. Why they are entertaining the idea of a tournament in Russia (corruption noted) after their carry on with gay athletes in the winter games and the responses by their officials is beyond me. Well it isn't but in an ideal world.

I'm not a fan of hurting the players because the fans are dicks. I'm a fan of doing whatever is necessary to stop this kind of behaviour continuing, personally. I'm sure the players will get over it. What about the thousands of normal fans that are over here, have had nothing to do with and of the shenanigans, and will be massively out of pocket. Will you be a fan of that too? Tough love for the global game. I reckon the whole thing of English teams being banned from Europe a few decades back was a massive step in all but eradicating the significant hooligan culture in the domestic game. If you believe it's just a handful of blokes kicking off then fair enough but even on 'biased' film theres hundreds chanting needless stuff.

I have no idea about the nuance of this particular situation other than England fans are involved again. It's not a case by case problem. I've heard enough of the chants filmed to know it's likely a very vocal minority singing very provocative songs such as 'we're racist'. It seems the Russians involved were intent on it kicking off whatever happened so I'm not blinkered by some sanctimonious preconception. There certainly seems to be a weak control by the authorities/associations involved too.

There's no justification or rationale for booing anthems like. It's just arsehole behaviour and the ultimate sign of disrespect.

I think everyone is aware it's a minority yet it's always a group of our lot involved.
