You know how generally on here you'll get a lot of people saying 'bring on such and such' at around 60 minutes, but then Pardew would bring on a left back and McClaren would bring someone on with 13 seconds left? Benitez actually does these things before we've thought it, which is new to me, I can't remember having a manager like that. It does seem very alien doesn't it?

Aye it's a bit much to expect highly paid professionals to give their all when they turn out once a week or occasionally twice. It's just not human nature. Whatever your job is, you need to feel a sense of purpose and have some positive influence coming from somewhere. Absolute tosh. Take in a Northern League game and you'll see players throwing themselves into challenges and playing like their lives depended on it with nothing really at stake and for little more than their travel expenses. 100% effort is a minimum requirement and a lot of players haven't given that this season. Yeah but that would imply that success is the aim.

There's always wanker fans with every fanbase and the hollowest vessels make the loudest sounds unfortunately. I grew up with many Villa fans and I wouldn't say we're hated or they are particularly wankers. Especially in the last few years.
