it wasn't just the run (stopping onside) it was the vision to see the possibility. he's not feet quick but a little nouse can go a long way and a great spot by nolan aswell. it's funny to me when everyones goes on about pace when you think of our better players in the premier era only gillespie and bellamy had pace to burn, all the rest had guile, nouse, technique and intelligence. Our two most successful periods in the premier were under Keegan and SBR, and both relied heavily on attacking players with pace. Keegan's key players: Ginola, Cole, Ferdinand, Lee were all quick. SBR: Dyer, Bellamy, Robert. We won tons of away games because of our lightning quick counter attacks. excellent point

im thinking the left of a front 3...

No signings yet, f***ing typical of Ashley. disgraceful we should have 5 in by now 5 out in all judging by previous record...
-
People are overlooking Guthrie? he can play the ball well and looks comfortable on the ball... Beckford should take care of the pacey finisher... sorted man...
-
Impressive accolade. That will be going in his next brochure.

Another one - Our most overrated player of the last decade......
GuyP replied to Liam Liam Liam O's topic in Football
agreed, he had a couple of good seasons but people seem to think the same Butt that played in the champions league final is still turning out for us this season... -
thsi was what i instantly thought of

from the Mirror... well, question the source if you will, but sounds as if talks are a little bit further than we thought? total bollocks probably like!

I expect Jonas would do the same at a higher level, its a sidepoint anyway. Jonas makes our football as a whole better than most of them do, itd be the same at this level or the next. Simply because the way he plays makes us keep it on the floor, drives us foward and gives space to others. They make us a side who can score goals at a poor level with a team that would play very poor attacking football without Jonas - whilst also having far less possession. At a higher level, a team that plays good football is going to do better than one who plays rubbish football but can finish against Championship sides. I didnt say anything about Colo/taylor/enrique not being effective, i said theyre all atleast as or more effective than Jonas. Like last season when people complained about his lack of end-product?...we've seen him at a higher level so if people werent happy, what makes you think they will be next season?
-
Surely Butt is more effective? his bicycle kicks just clear danger...
-
Struggling with 6 in 12?
-
a mate saw him in Nandos apparently
-
Sutton surely. Agreed, Ferdinand with us but Sutton overall...epic days back then

Been sent off regularly for Leeds for being a c***. (lashing out etc) No he hasn't, just checked he's been sent off twice since 2006. And has had only two yellow cards so far this season. Mainly the asking for a large contract, rejecting an offer which was an improvement on his current deal, complaining at fans getting on his back...usual cuntish behaviour
-
I always enjoy his interviews as he does speak frankly and with alot of sense. His ability to analyse psychologically his actions is outstanding. Its weird that he consequently acts such a cun from time to time, a milder Joey Barton if you will, but alot more remorseful...
-
Ken Bates apparently wanted £5mil for him though, otherwise he'll just hang onto him for the end of the season. They feel even though they will get nowt at the end of the season, itd be worth it if they are certain to get promotion. Kind of like us with a few players really, we need the cash but at what cost? I think he maybe worth a crack, but at the same time, he is a total total dickhead like...

taylor doesn't appear to be the same player from the start of the season. now content to just clear whaever comes his way and doesn't like bringing the ball mout even with time and soace which was such a feature of his early season form. well atm we have Colo who is dallying on the ball too much (the past couple of games anyway). whats that got to do with taylor ? Colo is the total opposite to him, if you play alongside someone repeatedly turning on the ball infront of you rown goal and getting caught, whilst getting the crowd on his back, you would perfer to stick the ball in to row z....i think its just the combination of the 2 tbh

It's the Carroll attitude spreading, that being said, would it have been as bad if Smudger was on? He tends to only play one style (most carded player in league in all)
-
We are playing long ball, so it's quite simple. Lovenkrands running onto his flicks and into the channels causing them problems, it seems like they play 3-5-2 which may change, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You should give Hughton a bell. This team is screaming out for you and your brilliant football shaped brain. I'm basing it solely on the style we are playing. It's now how I personally would play, check the FM thread for that masterclass. It's how i play on Footy Man like....Carroll and Agbonlahor...so just imagine an Agbonlahor who is worse at finishing and controlling the ball, and voila...
-
my guess is the squad decided to give themselves the day off. aye was gonna say, Nolan and Butt gave the team a day off...
-
Danny Guthrie in the middle threading passes...ah thatd be a dream wouldnt it! still, Butt can pick out a pass...
-
he should be competition for both the central midfielders. at his best, 4 or 5 years ago he was a rob lee style midfielder that negated the idea of needing a holding midfileder and an attacking midfielder as he done both effectivly. unfortunatly his performances don't have me hoping for much. Should be, but tbf, would you risk dropping a 10league goal midfielder (by xmas)? Smudger is in top form this season so looks to have nailed the spot, but hands down he is better than Butt...sad thing is, id say he is one of the better wingers we have productivity wise. Him and Guthrie are similar, tthough id say we'd be better playing Barton in order to up his potential sell-on value, much like Geremi...
