  1. A few people have said this in regards to the Premier League's large resources, but it was mentioned in a recent book about the early years of the league that today they operate with a pretty small staff in a nondescript office. Not that they don't have access to world-class lawyers who will be handling this, but their operating staff is definitely smaller that you'd think for a league of their stature. Either way, as we've been told by multiple people, following this day-by-day is just going to cause stress. Just have to let it play out and hope for the best.
  2. He gets pretty much everything wrong. Been doing it for years.
  3. If we were a normal club he would've been a useful utility player, but we aren't so he was forced to play way too much. Really enjoyed that interview. We got so little from the club in terms of access around then and it was probably the most likable group since I've been following. Such a disgrace we only bought Anita after finishing 5th
  4. I said similar 2-3 weeks ago No idea how I'm still following this.
  5. I always support Dortmund when they're on but there's too many young Americans in the league to just pick one. So, Dortmund, Schalke, RB Leipzig, and Werder Bremen it is.
  6. Caulkin just said it's still ongoing but there's no red flags. Everything that's come up so far was prepared for but we just have to let it play out. Anything the PL finds requires a response from the buyers, too.
  7. Just as finally accept we're getting rid of Ashley for good Feels like this will just be a delay and nothing that prevents it, but still, fucking annoying. This is exhausting.

    Sunderland

This happening while we're on the verge of a takeover If we do become a side fighting to make the CL/win trophies every season I'd be fine with them being a yo-yo club so we could beat them every few years. Largely, though, I want them to stay where they are forever.
  9. Don't see why Shearer would leave his position right now anyway, he's got it made in a pretty stress-free job. Bring him and Keegan back as ambassadors, maybe do the same for the players like Jonas and make them ambassador in their home country or something. In general just be more open to ex-players working with the club like Liverpool are, they don't even need formal roles. Otherwise, if a former player is good enough in their job and proven they can do it like van der Sar at Ajax, then go for it, but not because they're ex-players, because they've proven they can succeed in a recruiting or DoF role.
  10. It's the dumbest, most nonsensical reason for not restarting. There are actual good arguments those clubs could make, but they chose that. We're in a pandemic ffs, you have to make sacrifices, and not playing in your preferred empty stadium is the smallest sacrifice.
  11. Most respectable sources seem to be saying much the same thing. You don't really need to be ITK to think it's probably going to be next week unless the confidence shown by the buyers is totally misplaced. Or Caulkin has been totally misled, which seems unlikely. He was saying Mid-May weeks ago, fwiw, even when most reports said it would be done before May.
  12. Tbf, RS has been saying this for a while now and if it is announced next week he'll have been spot on. No reason to doubt him any more than the others
  13. I've been following for 13 years, started a few months after Ashley took over. My first game was notably brilliant, though. 2-1 win against Arsenal two springs ago. Couldn't have gone better.
  14. It's definitely our strongest position besides maybe one GK. We should be looking at two CMs, a forward, two fullbacks, and maybe another creative outlet first. Not that I would be against spending any money on any position right now.
  15. Same. In one way it's refreshing because it just confirms what we knew from watching his teams play, which is he has no tactical plan. But also, how bad is his personality disorder that he says something like that thinking it makes him look good..
  16. Where'd you read that? I'd be amazed if that kind of information is public knowledge as no one has any clue (as fas as I am aware) as to where things are in the PL process. It was from Jason Burt https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/04/30/newcastle-united-takeover-delayed-bein-sports-objection-overalleged/
  17. I didn't hear anything from the Zoom meeting, but those tweets don't read less confident to me. As we know, it's already been reported that the beIN thing has delayed confirmation, but it's still expected to pass. It's not fun waiting, but nothing has changed since this story first broke a few weeks ago.
  18. Both parties have known it could take this long from the beginning. Wouldn't start worrying unless we get to Thursday with nothing from the PL, at which point it's on the league to get this done. Surely they'd be opening themselves up to a lawsuit if they let this roll through an exclusivity period.
  19. I think Miserable Mob gained some ground today but Positivity Party is still well ahead.
