Yeah but we may only have a couple of games before everyone starts to return. You just don’t know. He’s not going to sign someone to play for a month. Just doesn’t seem that type. You’ll not get many players for £3.5m if that’s our budget.

If I was going to pick fault is there’s times we need him to win us a FK up the pitch and relieve the pressure. Basically what Shearer was so great at. Doesn’t have that in his game yet. 2nd half played out the way it did because of little things like that just slightly missing from his/our game.

The problem with FFP in its current form is the bigger clubs have happily inflated transfer fee’s which kinda creates an eco system only they can operate in. If players were just costing £1-30m then everyone could work within it in its current form. It’s bonkers we are having to try and haggle a £7m loan fee to £3.5m with our financial muscle but it is what it is so until it’s challenged it will make the journey longer but will make it all the sweeter.

It’s not the way EH wants to manage the squad. He’s not one for wanting “bodies” for the sake of it. He doesn’t like quick fixes hence if we do a loan ideally he would want it for someone we were obligated to buy. It’s just bad timing for us none of our injuries made it for start of December or even early January. I feel he’s only after one player maximum this window and hoping injuries return February. Fixture list will be bare unless we beat Fulham.

No clubs who have players EH wants want to loan them to us. No one in the EPL wants to help us. The players we want from abroad are possibly attached to clubs who think they can sell them instead of loaning them. EH said pre season the pool of players he wants to improve the team whilst maintaining wage structure etc is getting very small.

Having had time to listen to his press conference it’s quite clear none of our best players will be sold. So when sales are mentioned it will be along the lines of Longstaff. Not the PIF marquee signings.

Yeah wasn’t sure despite someone claiming it the other day. Think it was the year before he joined. My overall point still stands though. I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t finish 25/26 with us never mind 24/25. Leap of faith as obviously I don’t know the details but actually think we’ve negotiated a release clause that would only allow a few small number of teams to sign him and I doubt any of them see him as good enough. Especially at the fee we could demand.

He left Lyon who were in the CL to join us who were heading for relegation did he not? Im sure he would love to play in it every year like any good player but don’t underestimate simply playing in EPL what it does for his profile etc. His Brazil squad position hardly depends on CL football.
