  1. ELECTIONS TO THE BOARD OF THE TRUST APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN Dear Member, As we approach the end of the first full season under new ownership, it’s fair to say that change is happening both on and off the field, and it is a great time to be Newcastle United supporter. Off the field, following years of being ignored by the previous owner, establishing a new club infrastructure has resulted in improved engagement between the club and supporters. We are pleased to say that the Trust has been delighted to play its part, and is now in regular contact with the club through Sarah Medcalf, Head of Supporter Services, who attended our AGM in January 2023. We were also pleased to learn of the appointment of Matt Willis as the club’s new dedicated Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO); it is a huge step forward that the club now has a dedicated SLO in place. The Trust looks forward to working further with Matt and Sarah in the coming months as the Trust Board look forward to a new era of fan engagement, and the forthcoming Fan Advisory Board. As members will know, the Trust rules require elections to the Trust board on a yearly basis. This gives an opportunity for members to step forward and take a greater role in shaping the Trust’s future by standing for election to the Trust Board. It also offers members who do not wish to stand for the Board, an opportunity to vote for those they feel better able to take on the role of Board member. The Board have decided that, given the changes in both ownership and personnel within the clubs Infrastructure, rather than wait until the end of 2023 when the elections to Board have normally taken place, it would be an opportune time to refresh the Trust Board and to begin the election process at an early stage to ensure new Board members are in place prior to the start the 2023/4 season. A number of Board members will be stepping down or have stepped down, and as a result this year there are 6 positions open to members to join the Board. Each appointment will be for a period of 3 years. We would strongly encourage members to get involved by either standing for election or choosing their preferred candidates. Alex Hurst will be stepping down from the Trust Board, while Charlotte Robson will not be seeking re-election at the end of her term. Lee Forster and Adam Beckett have also stepped down. The Trust would like to place on record its thanks to Alex, Charlotte, Lee and Adam for their numerous years of service to the Trust. With that in mind please see details of the election process below. The elections will be run under the control of an Election Management Group which will be Chaired by Andy Walsh the Football Supporter Association’s Head of National Game and Community Ownership. The other member of the Group will be former Trust board member, and current Trust Secretary, Colin Whittle. Election Timetable Period: 16th May 2023 to 28th May 2023 Members to register their interest in standing for a position on the NUST Board by downloading a nomination form here - to be completed and returned together with a statement in support of their nomination (which should be electronic typed not hand written) and be between 400 and 1000 words) to the Independent Chair of the Election Management Group, Andy Walsh at [email protected] You can find a Statement Template here If by the close of the nomination period, there are nominations equal to or less than the number of vacancies then these will be presented to the NUST Board for an affirmation vote for those nominated to become Board members. Should there be more nominations than vacancies then there will be a contested election where the nominees are subject to the votes of the membership. Period: 29th May 2023 to 11th June 2023 Candidate information (nomination form and statement in support) to be sent to members and be available on the NUST website for members to view and vote, should a contested election be required. Members to vote for their preferred candidates (further details in respect of this process to follow). Period: w/c 12th June 2023 NUST Board to receive the election results from the Election Management Group and announce the results of the election . You can find our election policy here For further enquiries regarding the election process please feel free to contact the Independent Chair of the Elections Management Group Andy Walsh by email [email protected]
  2. Felt that’s the free kick set piece we should’ve tried against Leeds last minute to give us a yard around the wall.
  3. Was going to go to this game tonight but the ticket prices were silly in the end. Should’ve jumped on them when I saw a couple for €65 each. Kinda regretting it after seeing all the shenanigans ? Watched the first half nearby on TV. Barcelona never broke sweat. Second half must’ve been far more competitive.

Debut - West Ham - His substitute cameo had all those dying to sell ASM frothing at the mouth. Game 2 - Bournemouth - Came on late in first half (36) and helped combine in the build up for the equaliser a few minutes later. Game 3 - Liverpool - Came on (64) 0-2 down and a man short and looked bright creating a couple of chances with one on a plate for Wilson. Game 4 - Starts against Man City away and looked our most dangerous player and probably would’ve scored but unfortunately clipped the ball with standing foot as he was pulling the trigger for an almost certain goal. Came off (62) and 5mins later we went down to 2-0. So far so good IMO then got injured and missed Wolves (H) Forest (A) Game 5 - Man Utd. Comes on (65) and does ok. Stops a couple of counters tracking back and we go on to get a second goal. Game 6 - West Ham (64) plays some nice interchanges and from 1-3 we go on to win 1-5. Game 7 - Brentford (46) comes on for second half and helps turn the game with good movement and passing from 1-0 to 1-2 then subbed (95) and has tantrum. Game 8 - Starts against Villa and hardly sees any of the ball and is subbed (56) after a poor game along with everyone else. Game 9 - Comes on (70) against Spurs and sees game out at 6-1 already with nothing particularly demanded of him. Nearly scores from a great move but for a very good save. Game 10 - Comes on (87) and plays pantomime baddie with game won at 1-4 playing some nice 1-2’s. Game 11 - Starts against Southampton and looks the most likely to break the deadlock but is hooked at HT losing 0-1. Game 12 - Comes on (78) 0-2 down to Arsenal and helps win a few late corners with the game already lost. Game 13 - Comes on (73) 1-2 up and unfortunately delays pass slightly which is converted and then game swings 2-2 but still could’ve won it for us but is pulled down in on goal in the last minute. Ive never said the lad has set the world alight but he’s hardly played and certainly hasn’t been given a proper run yet but if you examine him game by game he’s had moments in most of them despite quite a few being short cameos. I personally didn’t want us to sign him as thought we could buy in that position possibly better for cheaper (check my posts) but now he’s here trust EH to work with him. I just hope he doesn’t remove what makes him tick and that is his agresssion and not playing too rigid in a front three and allowed to float across. Maybe just needs that first goal. Let’s hope it comes this Thursday ??

I’ll ask again. What has he actually done so wrong to be labelled poor?
  6. It’s probably because we are as high as 3rd with 2 wks to go and could easily drop to 6th. If we were yo-yoing between 4-6 for last few months would probably be an easier swallow. I didn’t fancy us in the cup final at all so wasn’t disappointed for very long. Was just pleased we got over the line regards getting into the the final. This one however is different as the outcome changes the gear change of the club by 2 seasons IMO. So as much as I’ve been pessimistic about us since the Liverpool result we are so close regardless… ?
  7. …And posters on here as you and @Optimistic Nut had us done and dusted ? Never forget … ?
  8. As much as it will be a blow for some of the fans and the club financially if we don’t make it Top 4 I actually fear it will be a bigger blow for the players. Actually thought for the first time EH looked concerned post match. Even me who’s been in the camp Liverpool will catch us if they beat us at home will be gutted TBH. Still in our hands at least ??
  9. Debuting their new strip tonight is all I know ??‍♂️
  10. Agreed. Thought he was excellent against Man Utd standing up against Rashford etc for some great saves. PS I see no one died 2nd half on the pitch ?
  11. They don’t play them again this season.
  12. The challenge on Mitoma wasn’t horrible it was just strong. He’s fine. Shearer had a bust face. Totally different. Caicedo hardly touches Martinelli. It’s how he falls that probably caused him the problem. Let’s see how the game pans out 2nd half and we can come back to the debate ?? I predict it will simmer out and hopefully a good flowing game of football if he refs it the same way.
  13. What I like about Brighton is their bravery to play through tight lines from the back. Was expecting us to be doing more of this via Botman but he seems to of lost his confidence to do so. Think Targett instead of Burn would help with this. Guessing with Bruno being unable to turn so much on his ankle for half the season when receiving it probably hasn’t helped either. They will give us chances as well as create us problems though. Should be a lively and nervy game Thursday.
  14. Yes but once players realise they will just be injuring each other rather than gaining free kicks they will stop. Refs just need to let it play out for a few months. No challenge today has been particularly bad. Mitoma still on the pitch and playing uninjured. Not sure what was up with Martinelli but the Caicedo tackle was harmless.
  15. I prefer it. Players will eventually cotton on and stop falling down if more refs were braver in letting the game flow. Actually still too whistle happy for my liking ?
  16. We did at least one yesterday and also against Arsenal ?

Exactly. Gain a rhythm. His injury here came at a bad time for him.

Great post ?? Not exactly sure what Gordon has done wrong in the limited amount of game time he’s had TBH. He’s been ok on the pitch with the minor show of petulance the only black mark since he joined. What am I missing?
  19. First time I’ve seen Boro this season. Are they always this dull? Sideways and Backwards. It’s important to have one player playing like their manager did perhaps but maybe not the majority of the team ? Wasn’t impressed with Coventry either. Luton and Sunderland both looked to have a bit more about them on first showings.

    Joelinton

Was he fit today? Didn’t look it. Had a fairly poor game when it was one he needed to step up in.
  21. No clean sheet last 9 games I think ? I know Man Utd was the last one so that doesn’t sound right. Season has been a bit of a haze so might be?
  22. I’m going to leave this thread with a bit of positivity if we are assuming Liverpool are our only realistic threat (not saying Brighton aren’t a threat but being positive ?) Forget the last weekend of season and make it a 2 game season. Would you rather have Brighton & Leicester at home to play or Leicester away & Villa at home to play to get two wins ?
  23. Yep. Much better than under last manager. We never once looked comfortable and could’ve and should’ve been 2-0 up.
