Other clubs like it or not are setting markers for clubs to compare their players worth so the simple question to ask is, is this a much better deal than say Gordon who’s of a similar position? I actually think it’s the huge drop in wage demands that’s swung the deal. Saving approx £10m on the original fee a bonus but if you give someone a 5 year contract on £120k p/w than £250k p/w then you’ve saved theoretically £34m in wages so the deal is £44m cheaper than it was 7 weeks ago ? Not just that but with the original deal you’d then have to up everyone’s wages to keep them happy. Massively different deal and no doubt a small compromise on our side also.

It’s all bluff and counter bluff with clubs and agents. Each have their own reasons for the other to believe they are the only show in town. Going to be a rollercoaster 7 days ?

It’s simply because when I read his Tweets and articles I find them balanced. I am able for example to accept his original Tweet about our budget (£40-50m iirc) and then except his follow up Tweets a week or so later (that the budget had increased to £60-90m iirc) and the reasons for them both. Same as except him saying that his information was we were clearly in for Pedro but the deal was in play which until now unless I’ve missed anything it still is. Unfortunately we’ve a lot of fans can’t and I personally think they are thick because of it as does Edwards so I guess that’s where we align. I was reading on here only days ago about people banging on about him getting the budget wrong. 1hr is a long time in the transfer window never mind days and weeks. Things are changing all the time. I If you haven’t got the intelligence to realise in the transfer window that the goalposts are constantly changing, as are targets, as are demands, as are squad needs, as are other teams exact same goalposts which in turn affect our own then you are always going to struggle with reports from the media during a transfer window as they can be rendered out of date within minutes. Fans who engage with him sensibly he’s fine with and usually bothers to engage back. Fans who are rude and attack him he enjoys winding up or blocking etc. Absolutely no problem with any of that. For the final time he let his friendship with Steve Bruce get the better of his professional judgment during his time here. I’ve never argued anything else but even then some of his Tweets are ridiculously twisted. For example there was nothing wrong with the Tweet someone posted on here recently by and large. The only point you could argue is the definition of a “good job” keeping us up for two year. Believe it or not but probably a lot of matching going fans think that also. Has he got a good promotion record? Yes. Can you see therefore why WBA would take a chance on him? Yes. As his social media following grows he gets invites to podcasts (some will be paid) TV and Radio Slots (again paid) and the more he’s seen and heard on TV and Radio the more he’s seen as credible and therefore his followers/social media grows even bigger…and so on and so on… Pretty straightforward ? The more people you can reach and advertise what shows you will be on etc the more you asked on them to make the shows themselves relevant. So again claiming that they all find him insufferable is another binary/extreme conclusion. Because we have a sensible wage structure and ain’t got the money like others have. Everton only can buy him because they are selling someone for £60m. How much did we get for Gayle, Hendrick, Clarke, Hayden, Woodman etc? How many new sponsors have we landed? We are trying align with FFP whilst allowing ourselves as much wriggle room for each transfer window. Hopefully the player has bought into the project. Not at all ? Just think he gets unfairly criticised. It’s always binary these days with people. No middle ground. TBH not sure why I try to defend him on here as NO by and large seems very binary on the media along with players performances. Like I stated though. He hasn’t been contradicted and on this occasion that is all that matters yet you and others can’t accept it. I’ll try and defend you. I think it’s more so that Burn has imperious since he arrived that any slight drop/mistake he makes is more noticeable because he’s been that good. The fact since signing in January he’s played almost every minute and we are ultimately only talking about 2 mistake’s he’s made in stoppage time of two very hard games which have cost us 2 points. Id say the only criticism I could make of him is his heading in the oppositions box from set pieces has been a bit disappointed but I seem to recall the Brighton fans highlighting that would be the case.

Bramble was having them every 15mins. His playing history has massively been rewritten by some on here. He was always an accident waiting to happen and only had a handful of good games.

Which Bernardo Silva have you been watching? He’s got brilliant low centre of gravity and twists and turns players with the ball on a string are his hallmark. Possibly the worst opponent for someone so tall ?
