Drogba has technicaly had 2 very good seasons in the Premership, and has played in a side that have won the league 3 times. He still hasn't hit the fabled 30+ goals mark, nevermind on 3 occasions. (2 of those we're in the 42 game seasons but he managed 34 in one of those). Drogbas goals to games ratio last season (his best ever) was phenominal, but Shearer has hit a similar g/g about 3-4 times, and scoring over 1 goal every other game 5 times, only just missing the mark on another 5 occasions. Drogba record for Chelsea, 170 games - 88 goals Shearer record for Blackburn, 138 games - 112 goals (is there a better record in Premiership history?) From a goalscoring point of view atleast, Shearer was streets ahead. Of course ther is more to both of there games though.

He just needs to be taken into a large room, given a ball, and been told he can't leave untill he's learned to kick a fucking ball. He has all the makings of a very dangerous player, just lacks any form of final delivery. That been said if he could cross and shoot he probably wouldn't be with us.

Darren Bent is a quality goal poacher, whether or not he has the skill to beat 10 men and then fire one in from 60 yards is irrelavant, he's good at what his posision requirs of him (scoring goals). You just need to look at his goal record to see his quality (1 in 2 for Sunderland, just under 1 in 2 for Charlton), it cannot be luck. If he played for us we'd all be wanking over him.

I'm not going to use the "it wasn't our day" excuse, but we didn't play poorly to be honest, and 2nd half we made chances that could have won us the game. 1 possotive is that hopefully Smith can be dropped for these kinds of games now, I think the likes of Stoke & Wolves are where he should be a starter, games where we are fored into a physical battle.
