I agree but it would take a monumental effort for them to grow to the level of Man City, PSG, Real Madrid etc. They're miles off.
-
Why though? The odds are heavily favoured that you would regret the decision in a few years time. Unless it's just purely for the prestige of wearing an iconic shirt?
-
It's got nothing to do with money, Milan won the Serie A with a 35 year old Olivier Giroud leading the line, backed up by an injured, 40 year old Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They'd arguably be battling it out for a Europa Conference place in the Premiership. If any player wants to join a project with good odds of actually becoming a force in world football then we're better placed than AC Milan. Historically they're a much bigger and better club, it's not even close, but Man City and Chelsea are a testiment to the irrelevancy of that. Especially at this stage we're offering any player a cheat code to being the next Kompany, Silva etc if they're good enough.
-
Milan are a huge club but they're miles off the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City on the pitch. We can offer someone like Botman essentially the easiest and most probable road possible to being a club/league legend. I honestly think players are daft as fuck to be turning us down unless it's for the absolute elite (Madrid/Barca/Bayern/PSG etc).
-
The traditional way of doing it is "we have too many players approaching/in their 30s."
-
Aye that's how I see it. Badiashile is quicker, looks like he carries the ball better, and beyond that they look to have similar stats. Obviously I trust the judgement of Howe like, it's a shame they're both left footed
-
Yeah those goal videos are shite tbh. That's a decent one. His pass for the assist at like 58s in is lush.
-
Bruno's wet dream with those runs.
-
That express article will be absolute nonsense though
-
If a young player feels confident enough that he can turn us down in the hopes of a bigger club the it's hardly a bad thing regarding his attitude like

Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Aye that's what I mean. You could probably replace Wood with Joelinton in desperate situations. There's no real need to keep him on unless we only sign Ekitike -

So was Wood tbf. -
As much as he can irritate you I would love to see him in a proper functioning side where he isn't automatically the main man.
-
The fact he bought Wood who turned out to be shite surely indicates he would be interested in another target man? The ball sticks well with Wilson tbf to him but if he gets injured we're possibly fucked even if we do sign Ekitike.
-
Aye, he has that Ronaldo/Bale style athleticism about him. 40m is potentially a great deal (probably wouldn't even be that high though).
-
Looking purely at his goal scoring stats he's had 2 good seasons (the two before this one) which show a clear progression of him maturing as a forward (he's always been a decent player even before then). Everton were horrific this season and he suffered a bad injury, if you want to just look at a players Wiki numbers (and DCL aren't bad by any stretch) then look at Shearer's for 97-98 & 00-01. In anycase if his numbers for those seasons weren't just an anomaly then he's potentially a 1 in 2 striker who is obscenely good in the air.
-
He hasn't had only 1 good season in his career though.
-
Fair enough, on the flip side the fact he knows how to deal with it cannot be a bad sign.
-
Calvert-Lewin would be class, I'm not sure what people who are against it are basing it on other than him missing most of this season?
-
He's the one I want like. Either him or Botman but Badiashile's athleticism gives him a much higher ceiling. He's also younger and I don't think he'd take up a squad place.
-
I still occasionally get slightly warm thinking about his goal against Austria. Absolutely no chance we'd get him this season

https://fbref.com/en/stathead/player_comparison.cgi?request=1&sum=0&comp_type=by_type&dom_lg=1&spec_comps=big_5&player_id1=ed9f7cfe&p1yrfrom=2021-2022&player_id2=e514ab62&p2yrfrom=2021-2022 Lodi started less than half of the games he was involved in so it's difficult to gauge (Target player 87 minutes per match, Lodi 41), but watching both of them it's clear Lodi is a much bigger attacking threat. Even so if you click 'Toggle per 90' above each of the tables Lodi is still close, or better, offensively in many areas despite his data per game being essentially halved (this can be a possitive or a negative but I imagine players playing a full 90 will get more actions per minute than one being used sporadically - unless they're a super sub). If I've gotten this wrong then by all means someone who actually knows what they're talking about correct me
-
Offensively Targett is fine, it's certainly not a glaring detriment to his game as a 'traditional fullback' or whatever they are these days. Modern marauding fullbacks are an obvious area managers can exploit and it would be handy to have someone like Targett around for when we're inevitably getting rinsed down the wings in some games. Or for matches when shutting out their right side makes more sense than trying to run riot down our left. I know Dummett can fill that role but Targett does everything he does and more, so it's canny irritating, and I've noshed Dummett off for years

One of them midfielders who just never stands out any time I watch him (which hasn't been years tbh), although he's apparently amazing at everything according to WhoScored
