You Basically have two options. The ref keeps an eye on things and steps in when necessary, dishing out warnings/bookings. OR The referee does nothing and then has to restart the corner after it was taken if a foul wasn't committed after the kick, but a player was impeded in the build up. It's the same thing only more annoying. Either way the ref has to interupt the corner.
-
The ref stops the wrestling so the corner can be taken fairly without one side being impeded in the build up. If he just let it go on with the intention of 'giving a foul when the corner was taken' it would be abused quite easily. I'm sure if you put your mind to it you could think of 1000 ways in which that could happen.
-
Aye but if players knew that they just needed to stop wrestling before the ball is kicked it would be pretty easy to abuse. You could basically just get the entire team to take a yellow after the fact by throwing all of the opposing players to the ground while somebody runs up the touchline with the keeper over his shoulder. Corner taker whips it in to an empty net.
-
I worded that horribly. Basically interupting the corner to sort stuff out (warn players/issue cards etc) makes sense otherwise players could basically do what they want up until the corner kick taker strikes the ball.

Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
Hanshithispantz replied to BeloEmre's topic in Football
Aye. I like Wood and I'm glad he's here (we'd have nobody else otherwise) but he's done absolutely nothing of note for 5 games like It's a testiment to Howe that he's making really good use of him. -
The ball is out of play though so any infringements would carry on into play at the expense of the wronged party wouldn't they? Unless you can give a penalty during a set piece and I've just forgotten about it? So if a striker is being impeded but the impediment stops before corner is taken, they would still be disadvantaged but wouldn't get the foul?
-
Been paying attention to him more and he's just really tidy, short or long. Does his bit defensively too. I even like his pointing now.

JT is a deffinite shagger like.

I mean he's shite, let's be honest, but looking at Targett and Burn you can see the see the reasoning behind it. -
If he started he would have terrorised that West Ham defence like.
-
Sometimes the sorting hat gets it wrong.

I still don't understand how Watford are as shite as they are.
-
Fucking hell, what a game to choose to miss
-
Honestly Watford winning is probably a good thing. We're only in the position we're in because Bruce is a fucking buffoon.
-
Burnley have done this before like, sure they looked dead a few seasons back and finished on 40 points.
-
Fucking hell that sam lad in the comments is a whopper like (Replying to Dean)

I doubt we chose to spend an extra £13m on a player because one was jabbed and the other wasn't like Howe's preference for Prem experience makes more sense every game we've played since the turn of the year. Plus we needed Wood in for Watford.
-
Don't get me wrong I agree with it like but I don't think we need a constant tally between the two for the rest of the season Wood has improved us as shite as he is, Weghorst has improved them. We'll stay up and will sign a better striker than both of them in the summer.

Probably needs to be reiterated that I literally started watching football again a few months ago tbh -

To add, I'm not comparing Rice to Parker in terms of how good they are, just that when Parker went to Fulham he was regarded as some all action midfielder for some reason. -

Nothing against Rice like. They mentioned it multiple times that he was a 'complete midfielder' though which I just cannot see. Maybe being oldschool but I think that's more a tag you would put on Essien, Seedorf etc. -

Fucking hell I was actually thinking that throughout the game, that someone should just meow at him. Didn't expect us to actually do it Chris Wood MOTM EDIT: It could be bollocks like? -

Aye, Scott Parker got the same, it was weird. Rice is a great DM and obviously a powerful runner but he's hardly Ruud Gullit. -
Oh aye I'm just taking the piss. Was a clear foul. He slowed down to buy it but as we've seen time and time again in recent weeks in our games referees seem to just be flipping their coin whether or not they're going to give them. The Arsenal match was insane for it.
