How many years is that now then that He's been at the bottom of the yearly form table? Has to be at least 2, possibly 3? In the last 5 year
-
Robin van Persie sticks out like but his career at the top level is fairly short (granted due to injuries).
-
On that point, how many genuine top class forwards (Ballon d'Or winners/runners up etc) stay their whole career in Britain*? I'm obviously no expecting a scientific answer here. Any noticeable forrins? *obviously you can expect their Premiership career to be book-ended by a couple of lesser sides abroad.
-
look at Aguero, Suarez, Hazard et al who've done it in this league. These are the two best player in the world, of course they'd do it. Hazard?
-
How often do you watch La Liga, because the PL really isn't all that and hasn't been for ages. Messi gets kicked all over as well and has done from the beginning. Can you remember that challenge where his ankle was basically past a 90 degree angle to his shin and he was out for about a week? He has superhuman conditioning like.
-
In fairness he doesn't train week in week out for Argentina. That's probably even harder for a player like Messi (to maintain his goal record) as he's not an out and out striker. His game is fully reliant on his team-mates being on the same wavelength.
-
Aye see my edit, fuck knows what I was going on about like I think there's very few circumstances where Messi wouldn't break the record like. It'd basically require like a half decade injury or something.
-
I know what yous are saying (and I agree), but to take it to it's logical extreme I can guarantee Messi wouldn't be scoring 73 goals in a season from West Brom EDIT: Reading this back it's such a pointless point, just ignore it
-
Didn't Suarez miss like 8 games that season as well? Makes it even more incredible Played 33 league games according to wiki, dunno if that's accurate though as it was an 8 game suspension wasn't it? Maybe missed a few cup games.
-
Think Dinho's saying their records would be nowhere near as impressive in the Premiership as they are in Spain. I don't think anyone's dense enough to think either wouldn't have broken Shearers record if they'd spent their careers in the Premiership It's fair enough like. Suarez scored 40 league goals last year and 59 in all competitions. His insane year at Liverpool he got 31 in the league (and 31 in all competitions). We rarely have freakishly high goal records in England. EDIT: A lot of this has to do with the domination of Barca more than the league as a whole though.
-
It was probably linked on here but there was an article that claimed he played the team the board told him to play at one point? Something along those lines anyway.
-
Pretty much the same as comparing Didier Drogba with Kevin Doyle.
-
We'll be a different side in the Premiership like, we're far from a defensive side in this league though. We're disciplined but the bluster at the start of the season about us playing 2 defensive midfielders etc was bollocks really. Same with Dummett & Colback not being suited to this league/being exposed more than they will in the Premiership etc.
-
Shearer's record really is incredible like. He had the advantage of longer seasons for 3 year but he never played in the Premiership until he was 22 (and obviously had injuries which hampered him/changed the way he played). To put it into perspective Aguero joined the Premiership at a similar age and is 150 goals off. He'd need to average 25 goals a season until he was 36 to match Shearer's record.
-
He's EPL class, certainly, and a good player but imho Bridge is a better defender. fucking hell, in 2006 as well. "EPL class" good spot mate.

It's just nice to see people knocking these graphs up because they're git giddy at how we're doing, and not to show everyone how fucking awful Alan Pardew is -

One of the worst away followings I've ever seen up here. Especially considering it was a Saturday 3pm match. Aston Villa was the worst one I can remember. It was the game when Ben Arfa scored an absolute screamer in a 1-1 draw in 2012. Villa brought about 800 max. Fulham are absolutely pathetic but they don't scream about being huge, and neither do Cardiff. Aston Villa tell everyone they're the Real Madrid of the Midlands, when the truth is their club has so little character and support, they should wear all brown rather than claret and blue. Yet all the Villa fans I've met have been canny. I agree the way they come over online like. I've checked a few forums since we've come down to get a better gauge of the league and VillaTalk is probably one of the better ones tbh. The Brighton forum doesn't look bad either. That Preston forum was RTG levels. -
Lost 5 of 11 too. Best league in the world I don't understand the logic in this post. Weird. It's the thing to do nowadays though. Point out some irrelevant point followed by 'best league in the world.' It's somehow managed to become more tiresome than the excessive jingoism from the PFM.

2 points less than 9th place Las Palmas of La Liga.

In which case I'd be pissed off if I was a player "Lucky? You think I never worked hard to become a premiership footballer you fucking gremlin?"

I reckon you'd get a canny price for one of those orthopaedic beds like.
