He gets it like, it's the best thing I can say about him.

Went 5 at the back against Reading when we were 3-1 up so I could see him doing similar with Lazaar and Yedlin as wingbacks.

Depends what you mean by “going rate” really, if you mean a rate that bears almost no relation to his ability or usefulness, and has been created purely by the bizarre marketing that envelops football, and more specifically the Premier League, then I agree. It’s the footballing equivalent of paying £3.50 for a box of 8 Nurofen when there’s a box of 16 Ibuprofen on the same shelf for 24p. Here we’ve got a player who has been pretty frustrating for large swathes of his Premier League career, who cost under £2m, generated a 1500%(?) profit and yet still feels like an on-field disappointment. Big fees being paid for Karel Poborsky and El Hadji Diouf off the back of an international tournament was understandable when it was more difficult to watch players from other countries. This bloke has played every week in our division for nearly four years and been ordinary at best so for a couple of decent runs for France to have increased his value to this point is almost the stuff of parody, where forcing a corner in a European Championship game against Iceland is worth £10m more than doing the same against the same players in a friendly. At no point was he “France’s best player” like, unless you mean a point for 6 seconds in a particular game when he had the ball. I’m still shaking my head at the fee, I think it’s a more staggering amount of money than Andy Carroll was sold for, even in this inflated market. Carroll was young, full of potential, and was in the middle of a frightening run of form stretching back over an entire year that, at the time, showed no signs of stopping. Sissoko is 27, and has been alright for us, sometimes good, more often not very good, and is unlikely to get much better. I say this as someone who has always defended Sissoko, he’s been one of our better players over the last three years based purely on how utterly pitiful we’ve been in that time period, and even in that context, there won’t be too many disappointed not to be watching him. I bear him no ill will, and certainly have no jubilation towards the fee, just a general sense of astonishment. The proof of the going rate will be how he does for Spurs, all I’ll say is that if we bought an unknown player for thirty million pounds and he turned out to be Moussa Sissoko, I’d want to chuck the whole thing in. He was comfortably France's best player in the final imo. In all honesty, Sissoko has never really provoked much of a reaction either way from me, I've never really been that arsed about him either way. By going rate I simply meant the amount that's being paid across the board for players of his ilk. Just look at the other transfers within the last few days. Mustafi, Slimani, Bolasie and Stones, just off the top of my head all went for daft fees imo, but that's the market now and it tends to be more of a surprise now when players like Janmaat go for £7.5m and you think 'that sounds about right' but also feel like we should have gotten more because of how ridiculously inflated prices have been this summer. I just don't get who sets these fees. Like someone decided Sissoko was worth £30-35m months ago and then everyone just went along with it, is that what happened? More of a rhetorical question really as I doubt anyone knows. There's just no incremental value for players based on their ability anymore. Janmaat is a great example actually, his career here is very similar to Sissoko's.

I don't get Spurs like, they do this just about every window instead of using the time they have to properly buy the players they need. It's like Levy's version of a danger wank.

It's really hard to judge how mental prices are in this day and age like. It's really difficult to get excited by huge fees because of the money being pumped in by Sky. 10 years ago receiving £20m for a player would be huge, now you're massively short buying cast-offs like Benteke with it. I thought Ritchie's fee was a bit over the top but in hindsight we've got a bargain. A couple of million for Hayden? None of it makes any sense
-
I actually think we've improved our squad, but our squad was horrible We're in the championship though so fuck knows, I think we'll be absolutely fine.
-
I think Wijnaldum will turn out to be a good signing tbh. Baffled why he's being played so deep but I think Klopp will get the best out of him eventually.
-
Think Townsend is a bit of a sly cunt but Sissoko has taken the wanker level into orbit. I know what you're saying though, I like players who are pretty straight and don't try to arselick, Assou Ekkoto flat out saying he doesn't like playing football for example.
-
Just ignore the man who HATES FOOTBALL. Nothing to see here.
-
He's unplayable on his day. I think he's a total cunt but I'd obviously rather have him in the side than not, the £30m just isn't exciting to me at all as I'm still not convinced it really matters, but whatever, I suppose we'll see some benefit from it in the future. That been said we 'had' to sell him for that price and we've brought in good enough quality to get out of this league, a league lower than the one we were in last season which shouldn't really need repeating.

Get prepped for regular snobbery on any occasion Gouffran starts or points are dropped. The rest of us can get on with enjoying a successful campaign. The rest of you would have flogged Sissoko and Wijnaldum for £10m then made excuses for Colback or Pardew. You know it, so do we. No they/we wouldn't, stop making up arguments for people so you can continue to peddle your tale about expecting a huge fee for Sissoko, you've been doing it for ages Maybe I was wrong then. We get it man, you said something like "we should be getting more than £12m" for Sissoko ages ago when a few people made a daft comment about selling him for like £3m or something. You were right, they were wrong. We get it. Can we move on now?

What's wrong with not wanting our better players sold and not replaced. Of course people are going to be thrilled with Colback and Gouffran starting when we've made 30 million profit this window. He has though, we've signed Atsu and Ritchie this window and let Sissoko and Townsend go. They might even turn out to be better, it isn't that much of a stretch I still think we needed another winger, another striker, and another proper central midfielder but we've got enough quality in there to get out of this league.

Forgot all about that quote, what a shithouse.
-
Who is saying that? Sky? Yeah, they said he was ringing to welcome what he thought was his new player to the club. awww
-
Neil, welcome to the club of Sissoko Hatred.

Actually fuck the £30m, I hope this falls through for the shear hilarity of it now.

In fairness to Knockaert Leicester were awful that season. -

Bit of a gormless comment for a professional sports writer. The 12 signings have been brought in to do a specific job, but we'll have to start again if we get promoted, so it's hardly great business to be making profit by selling premier league assets. Wijnaldum, Townsend, Janmaat and Sissoko. That's it really. Our squad now is barely any weaker than the one that went down, and far more ballanced. -
Everton is a hillarious move He's been telling everyone for years how he deserves Champions League football, masturbating himself to sleep over the thought of sunning it up in Madrid. He's moving to Merseyside to play for Liverpool's little brother.
-
Even his outstanding performance in the final was basically just more 'all fart no shit'. He could go on to have a fantastic season for Everton tbh but will still never get over this. £30m ffs. Forced 2 saves, son - 'Went absolutely wild at the Euros'
-
He wasn't even good in the Euros He had a good final and made one Sissoko run against Ireland.

Ahh not Spurs, go to Goodison man Moussa.
