From a business point of view, the club would be foolish not to offer the free season ticket holders chance to renew their seats. Not good for the rest of us!

This thread ?, it's brightened up my day

If we assume 25k fans are the 'I will go regardless, nobody will stop me going' type, 3k for away fans. I think we're seeing a very good proportion of those who can be reasoned with cancelling. A half empty stadium, loss of interest from fans to watch on sky, no decent players wanting to come to a club with no direction, Bruce and Charnley leading the way...things are going to unravel really quickly. Ashley will be lucky to get half of his current asking price when all is said and done.

I wonder if this includes cancelled direct debits on the 10 year deal? I cancelled my DD at the end of June but my block (block f) is showing as sold out.
-
It was worth a shot trying to get a refund for direct debit payments that I'd already made. Unfortunately I recieved this reply from first direct: 'As a Newcastle fan myself I feel your anguish, however we are unable to process a refund for a direct debit for what is a trade dispute. We have set criteria which we follow for putting through a request for a refund which are restricted to the following - Amount or date taken differs from advance notice given customer cancelled direct debit with originator Customer never agreed to direct debit. Customer never notified direct debit payments would be taken. Please contact the club directly to obtain a refund.'
-
I finally cancelled my direct debit yesterday, just can't keep justifying support for Mike Ashley. Family and friends that I go with are also not renewing which made it a much easier call. I'm gutted, not relieved as I thought I would be.
-
If you're on the 10 year deal with monthly payments can you just stop the direct debit to cancel your season ticket? Or will the club come back demanding payments?

I heard that. He said it wasn't a problem, i.e. he's happy with his current level of control over transfers. It's the budgets and other issues he is concerned with.

Yep. Also prevents Ashley from blaming fan negativity should a takeover not materialise. People responding to TMG with vitriol doesn't bode well for the future, mind. Correct. It was going to be a pathetic attempt at a boycott, calling off is the best approach. Need to strike while the iron is hot with these things and in the end it all petered out. If another disaster of a window goes by, which it will, form drops and Ashley remains, the appetite will be there again in February. Not calling it in the first place would have been the best option imo. It being called off doesn't look good after its been announced, but it's a good excuse for a face-saving cancellation of it. It's more their integrity that's the worry now because they've essentially pissed off both sides of the boycott debate now. Once there's a genuine appetite for it I'm sure it'll be forgotten though. The Magpie Group needs disbanding now IMO. Their hearts are in the right place but cancelling protests after announcing them means they have lost their credibility. I wouldn't blindly throw my support behind them like I have done in the past.

A combined loss of £9.08m. Despite him making a profit of around £50m over 4 transfer windows. Ashley's stupidity really knows no bounds, he's going to lose far, far, far more once Rafa leaves. £1.08m on Murphy, a player who massively helped us gain promotion. Gamez was free. £3m on Lazaar. £5m on Sels Didn't we get about £4million back for Sels? £1million in today's market is nothing.
-
We're only a Rafa resigning away from the club imploding IMO. I think Ashley realises this and is why he's after a quick sale. No way is he getting sacked at this stage.
-
I've just moved to the corner! Never mind. See what next season is like then make a decision whether to move again. Hope it's still a good atmosphere in the corner as the view from there is much better than Gallowgate upper IMO.

Where do you get these? Or has somebody squeezed into a youth's size?
-
Milik is a quality player but had a terrible night. Germans are still in second gear, much more to come from them I fear.
-
Arsenal will buy him, he'll play five games and then watch champions league football from their bench. Will be delighted to see the back of him. He's perhaps the most frustrating player I ever remember playing for us.
-
I honestly think he'll do a good job for us in the championship if we can get some mobile players around him. If he helps us get back up at the first attempt he'll be worth his £4m salary.
-
I'd be careful. If you didn't cancel officially by letter and just stopped the DD and then go on to use your season ticket, then the club may be able to prove that you owe them back payments for the months you didn't pay them.
-
Fair enough if he'd had all season, but from what he took over he's done well with. Typical Pardew though, he'll never keep it up in the long run.
-
Yesterday was all round the worst away game I've been to. What happened on the pitch need no further comment. But there's a section of our fans that are just arseholes. The fighting after the game was shocking, one young lad got full on kicked in the face whilst on the floor against the railings. Then the paedophile chants all game, great way to represent the club, maybe we have the team we deserve.
-
Did you let the club know first that you didn't want to renew? I'm thinking of cancelling my DD now (missed the deadline for officially cancelling) but still want to go to the matches I have paid for.

The SD logo fits the brand perfectly. It looks cheap and shite, and most of the gear they sell in there is cheap and shite......and now it makes our stadium look cheap and shite :'(
