Sorry, who couldn’t shift 10k tickets?

Just look at the size of the respective fan bases and there’s your answer
  3. After he'd just scored and as part of a 4-1 defeat to the team they hate the most in the world, sums them up!
  4. I appreciate that, but him leaving the way he did has also disrupted us massively.

It sold out at 124 points FFS 🤣
  6. Same types when I had my ST were there. Shake hands on way in, say nothing other than pleasantries, shake hands again before leaving early. Just get out if you’re leaving early!
  7. You can work on anything every day, it means nothing. I agree, its going to take 5+ years from the day they make the decision, but we haven't even got a time frame on a decision to be made. Block out all the noise and the truth is that there's no momentum behind plans regarding the stadium. I also agree that in the meantime we should be looking to maximise all revenue generating channels. But one is not at the expense of the other.
  8. I’m not saying they’re out to milk the club, there’s much easier ways of making money that buying a football club. But for whatever reason, the facts are that they are not moving forward with any significant plans for the stadium. At the same time Hopkinson is talking of world domination. The two things don’t align. We don’t need a new stadium to improve our financial position but we certainly do if we’re going to compete with the world’s best.
  9. I might be negative but I just read this as absolute spin. We’ve just been told that there’ll be no serious move forward with stadium plans for the foreseeable future. Put this within a message of huge ambition and everyone overlooks the absolute lack of ambition to move us forward. As a few have said, look at actions rather than words. We’re not making the moves to that line up with being amongst the best in the world as things stand. I appreciate it’s not easy to make such things happen but we should at least have commitment from the owners to do something.
  10. Gonna get mags+ if that 95-96 drill top is confirmed
  11. Need to bring him in now. Not just knee-jerk to Pope’s mistake tonight, but if you don’t use that as a reason to change it, what do you wait for? I think it’s worth it, just to see if it can help us stop being so shaky away from home. Ramsdale might help calm everybody down a bit and help us play out from the back much better.
  12. I'm not saying Schar has to stand still. He should do whatever he can within the rules to prevent Foden from scoring. People say its not a foul because the ball has already been played. I'm saying if the momentum of your challenge leads to a foul then it should be given because it has influenced what happened with the ball even if the contact comes after the shot has been taken. Sorry, I keep going with this and appreciate I'm probably talking shite and not explaining it properly but it makes sense in my head.
  13. People are misrepresenting what I'm saying. Of course it's not the putting off the player that is the issue in isolation, its combining that with the fact that he then took the man and not the ball. By Schar taking the action of coming across, Foden has to play the ball earlier so Schar's motion has influenced the play whilst the ball is in play. As he then didn't touch the ball and only got the man, that's why I think its a foul. Same with the headers mentioned. Not every contact is a foul. If two players go for a header and one gets it and the other one fouls him, then it should be a penalty even if the header goes out of play. In a heading situation, a foul is only likely by somebody going through another player with excessive force, use of elbows etc, because you are allowed to use your body when challenging for the ball in the air. But I think it's been shown that my interpretation is wrong on MOTD, and I obviously was very happy it wasn't a penalty, so I don't want to drag this out any further.
  14. Put it this way, when you see an attacker following through when a defender is clearing a ball, it's nearly always a foul. No difference because its a striker in the penalty box. You can't have one as a foul and the other one not.
  15. I think the point is, if you see Schar flying towards you, you know you have to get your shot away earlier. But as Schar was late, he influenced Foden with an illegal move. I don’t think I’ve explained that very well. But essentially, Schar put him off and fouled him, if he hadn’t have done that Foden would have gotten a better shot away. That makes it a pen to me. But as Yorkie says, we certainly deserved the rub of the green against Man City.
  16. Enter the ballot to buy this cap. The club know how much us members love a ballot.
  17. What? Hall is class. Best of all our full backs IMO.

Still a lot of games between now and then for momentum on either side to swing. They’re a decent team by the looks of things but I still believe they’ll drop to mid table by the end of the season. Hopefully a few morale sapping defeats soon will start this levelling out.
  19. They can fuck off with the ‘you should have bought a ticket when we were shit’. Approx 10,000 people packed in to try to force Ashley out when Rafa left, most of us having sat through two relegations like everyone else. There’s an element of our ST fanbase who spectate rather than support, wouldn’t do anything that gets in the way of their matchday routine to get behind a bigger cause, and now have this superiority complex over members. So I guess the us and them divide works both ways, because I look around SJP on matchdays and think no wonder the atmosphere is worse now than it was when we were shit.
  20. It’s not the demand, it’s the demographic change that is the issue. Have a quick read of the match atmosphere thread and you’ll see the impact this is having.

    Match Atmosphere

Sunderland away was better when we’re in the lower bowl, they’d have signing sections right next to us which was good for a bit of back and forth.
  22. The playing hey Jude and Blaydon Races for fans to sing a long to is awful. Reminds me of Boro fans singing along to pigbag. It’s a sign of where we’re at if the players are requesting this to get some atmosphere in the stadium.

Think it’s one for the unpopular opinion thread. My memories are just that he didn’t do it often enough, and although his game wasn’t defined by the amount goals he scored, he had poor stats post 2000 for the quality of the team he was in.
