The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
ExiledGeordie replied to Rich's topic in Football
I would’ve said yes prior to our league position following recent results. For it will be a huge disappointment not to get CL now and have significant ramifications this summer but what will be will be. -

Let’s just beat Ipswich first and go from there -

Not getting CL now from where we put ourselves would be a huge huge setback. It’s still very much in our hands -

I think on balance we can just about manage they Brighton away match too but I agree regarding the Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton matches. -
Fulham were shite in that second half to be fair
-
And yet could utterly bizarrely still get champions league and win a 3rd trophy in a row

They're awful cunts -
We’re going to have to beat Chelsea at home For CL which is either going to be sweet or gut trenching if we don’t
-
Absolutely typical
-
Whether or not we sign him he has the physical ability to deal with players like Watkins who we struggled with yesterday.
-
Ideally Sven back and a physical and fast right CB in the mould of Tapsoba of Leverkeusen. Watkins showed up the limitations of our CBs yesterday.
-
Villa also HAD to win and they played like that. I had a feeling we might come unstuck at some point and to be honest given the distinct lack of options beyond the starting 11 I think this team has done phenomenally this season really.
-
Well one argument for someone like Mbuemo or a “similar” hybrid forward is he can play through the middle as well as RW. This is where i hope Mitchel comes into his own this summer identifying some really good affordable targets to go with one or two purples.
-
Krafth is fine as a back up right back, emergency CB, the others I agree with completely.
-
Agreed, Miley is still young, Longstaff isn’t up to it and Willock remains unconvincing recently.

No excuses here really, if we want CL football we have to win. -

I we fail to beat Ipswich next sat I’ll obviously get a little concerned but until then I remain confident. -
Yeah a new gk, RW and CB with speed takes us up a notch for sure but it’s going to be a struggle during the next window to equip the squad with the depth needed.
-
We were very leggy and sloppy most of the day today, midfield was piss poor, well everyone was really. Frustrating loss but we were second best all over the pitch. I do wonder whether it was just a game too far with lack of rotation, Villa’s squad is far deeper than ours and I think it showed today. I also think today showed we need some real pace at CB vs fast physical players like Watkins. That definitely needs addressing in the summer. A few days off then refocus for Ipswich next sat which is obviously a must win but there will be pressure building. Nothing indicates we can’t still get CL from here.

I think Brighton are beatable away but let’s just get Ipswich done next weekend and go from there. -
I’m surprised Osula doesn’t get more of a look in, Wilson looks miles off it
-
Yeah he doesn’t look 100%
-
It’s an odd fixture this one because essentially home the team usually batters the away team most times.
