Newcastle United vs. Crystal Palace: 4/1/26 @ 15:00 (Sky Sports)

I think we’ll be bang up for this and they seem to have stalled a bit recently. Hopefully that means a win. -
Clearly some cover at full back and someone who can do something different in midfield and link the attack would really help us in the second half of the season.
-
Crucially when balls come into the box or when shots are fired at him you just feel far more confident don’t you. He has his limitations and we need a new number 1 gk but he’s definitely better than Ramsdale.
-
Agreed, it’s very odd
-
What an odd photo to super impose his face onto 🤷🏽♂️

Definitely some concerning signs again there where we just completely lose the initiative and control of the game and don’t look like we know how to wrestle it back. Still I think Howe and the players needed that for confidence and god knows we might even go on a string some results together 😂 Two home league wins in a row and we might be sitting in the top 5 haha -

Sleep walking towards a 2-2 unless we get a grip of things -
He just doesn’t look right at all, I wonder if he’s had Covid or something

Feels like a really pivotal half coming up, really need this win, can’t afford throwing it away. -
Can still get Europa league place but need to start sorting our shit out quickly and try and find some consistency. A couple new signings in Jan would certainly help as would Wissa starting to bang the goals in.
-
It’s pretty clear that wholesale changes are needed in the summer but in Jan we could do with additions at full back or a creative midfielder if we could get either, those positions make the most sense this upcoming window. We definitely need a new number 1 GK, there’s a chance Tino might be off, Schar will probably go and there’s question marks over what happens with Botman. The midfield may well need revamping as Tonali and Joelinton will almost certainly be off for different reasons. Wingers wise there needs to be a change because it’s gone stale. I’d imagine Barnes will possibly want away to get more football if Gordon continually starts ahead of him but personally I’d move Gordon on if we could get an upgrade. I just think none of our wingers really give is enough goals or creativity.
-
It’s very disappointing that for whatever reason so far this hasn’t worked (ability, coaching etc). Elanga bombing out is one thing but Ramsey too is a killer.
-
He’s going to have to figure it out because if he doesn’t he’ll probably be moved on next summer.
-
A fit Wissa from the start of the season would’ve been massive, his injury completely fucked us.
-
Well summed up, it’s like he refuses to change things up or doesn’t know how to which is odd either way.
-
The summer window killed us really with the lack of a proper board structure to deal with the Isak situation and then make sensible decisions in the transfer market. Howe needs to take some criticism for the summer signings too - Woltemade looks a good player but has been signed without us really looking like we know how to use him properly? Elanga and Ramsey have been a wasted 100m so far. Granted Thiaw has been a great signing and I think Wissa will score goals. The wingers are a major issue with the most productive and consistent winger being Murphy and he’s not exactly top tier is he. Again recruitment issues. I was watching the Geordie journos summing up the game last night and they were saying how we now have a side of athletes with relatively few who can really play football and a lack of true guile to break teams down. It’s like Howe looks for tall, fast, powerful players only? I mean you need a mix of players and we’ve been crying out for a number 10 type for ages. Howe gets the season to try and work it out for me but he does look a little bit like he’s running out of ideas with the team. The like for like subs and not taking any risks just isn’t working. Throw Wissa on with Woltemade to try and get a result maybe. Like I said he gets the chance to try and work things out and find an answer but maybe his time is naturally coming to an end here. The England job might be a convenient get out for all if things haven’t improved. We do still have opportunities to win another cup but our inconsistent form and terrible away form just feels like we aren’t going to see enough improvements to achieve anything major this season.

He’s too inconsistent and he’ll never be a top finisher.
