It would be a shame if we didn’t bring in at least 1 first team starter but I think bringing two in is hampered by FFP. Even one player in the 40-50m might run us close. I’d imagine it might be one potential starter and then 1 or 2 more but like Harrison Ashby type players. I might also be talking complete bollocks ?

We won’t know for certain but from what Howe said he’s running and kicking a ball but that isn’t full training with the squad. You’d imagine if he gets a couple of weeks or so full training with the squad then he’ll be involved which is why The Shef Wed game or Fulham seems more likely.

If that was to start happening you’d probably see Howe walk. Not a chance he’d want Ronaldo anywhere near the squad, he’s a social hand grenade ffs

Exactly which is why we get his return exactly right. I don’t think we’ll bring in a striker this window so it’s imperative we get Isak back fit. It’s exciting that we’ll be able to add him to the mix fairly soon even if it’s a role off the bench initially.

Thigh muscle injury which he re injured and therefore why they’re being extra cautious. Howe says he’s back running and kicking a ball so he’s probably close to full training and they’ll probably want a couple of weeks of that. I think he might return in some capacity for FA cup match and then hopefully Fulham home which is 3 weeks away. Id rather they were extra cautious and not bring him back too early. Must’ve been really difficult for the lad so the fans will be really important when he returns.

Yeah you can see how useful he can be at home against teams playing with a low block and he can also pull something out of his arse to win any game. Consistency, staying fit and as you’ve pointed out above whether he can truly adapt to how Howe wants us to play with the press is key. I personally think we’ll bring players in who fit the Howe mould more and I think ASM could well be off next summer but I’m intrigued to see what happens from now til the end of the season. Isak could be fly in the ointment for ASM.

Yeah Strawberry corner was pretty decent but you’d expect it to be. Burn is immense for us but there were times where you could see that a more attacking fullback would create more for us going forward particularly when there isn’t a designated winger playing left side. I think this might be addressed next summer.

They’re great going forwards but woeful at the back, or at least from set pieces so we should be able to capitalise. I’d take a draw really as there’ll be some funny results first few rounds of matches as teams settle in again. That said with Wilson fit me more confident of us keeping it tight but still acoring.

Almost certainly just fan talk but there’s quite a few talking about a deal for Maddison in Jan (at the ground, on total sport). It’s probably just because we’re getting close to Jan the rumours ramp up.

Good summing up, was in the Strawberry corner and felt the same. Quite a few players slightly off the pace but to be expected really. Still we’re through and a good run out for most of the players which is ideal pre Leicester and still with a few days to train this week. I think it’ll be a good atmosphere, more season ticket holders/regulars in attendance with people starved of competitive football for yonks. Kind of the re-start of the season too.

I think we’ll sign a new starting LW or someone who can play either side next summer (or indeed Jan if the right players is abailable) and ultimately he’ll be off.

Complete guesswork but looking at Howe’s quotes and the fixture list a place on the bench (two weeks) v Arsenal or more realistically a return in the cup match in some form seems more likely. Failing that you’d hope he’s back for Fulham at home which is basically a month away.

One of those would be mega wouldn’t it. I’d imagine the “strong” rumours will start to roll out pretty soon from Ornstein et al if a big move looks like it might happen as we’re very close to jan 1st. Martin Hardy is usually pretty reliable too.
