  1. Cacapa v Portsmouth was shocking, I was in the Gallowgate for that (lost 4-1 I think)

-St James and unique atmosphere (which he’s commented on) -Working and developing under Howe - Playing with the likes of Bruno, Isak and Gordon - Decent chance of top four qualification and cup run ….are all reasons why he might be keen to come.

I think we’ll probably know whether this is a goer by midweek

But in this case we’re looking to spend upwards of 60m on a 24 year old who’s proved himself in the premier league and at the euros. Signing a player at the end of his career for mega money and mega wages is a different discussion.

If they genuinely want him I think they’ll get him. They can pay higher wages, have champions league, club stature etc.

Fair points. Sadly if Liverpool genuinely go in for him I think they’ll take him over us.

Would Spurs come in for him? (Hes a London lad)

Be plenty commentators/journalists and fans of other clubs gutted “if” we get this one through.

It sounds like as it often is that it’s down to amount and the payment structure. I agree we probably need to nail it down next week then finalise details but I doubt it’ll get down in a few days.

I agree with you Gordon won’t be sold but if Liverpool offered 100-110m I think we sell not 150. I don’t think Liverpool would ever pay that tho considering what they already have.

I think we’ll end up walking away really and move onto another target. Palace will obviously want a bidding war.
  12. Exactly my thoughts otherwise you wonder how they’re going for both Guehi and Bowen. Mind you stick both those players in the first 11 😂

He’s fast and strong as an ox. Just listen to Ivan Toney talk about playing against him. I think he’d be a tremendous signing and one that would give me more confidence of us getting top 4 next season (with a RW coming in). People talking about the fee, you’re always going to have to pay a bit more of an English player and particularly after how he played in the euros.

My worry is another club comes in and hijacks the move with wages etc. it’s highly likely he’s spoken to Gordon and Trippier at some point while away with England though.

    Will Osula

Exactly. Can come on as an option for 20-25 mins to run hard at defences and cause problems and lessen the load on Isak (and Wilson). Sounds like he can play on the wing too so just generally adds depth.

Ornstein usually releases fairly concrete info. If we’ve made an approach the then it’s likely the player has indicated he’s interested. Doesn’t mean he’ll sign re wages, transfer fee etc but it’s very encouraging.

Id be happy if we bought him and a starting RW, I think we can afford that
  18. ExiledGeordie

He’s also exactly the type of defender we need

    Right footed or left footed?

Unlikely as Ornstein is usually on the money but you never know
  21. Couldn’t agree more, sport, politics, it’s all awful on there. Glad I’m off it to be honest save for the odd view once in a blue moon.
  22. I logged into Twitter or x or whatever it’s called now for the first time as only have it on my iPad. Fuck me there’s some nufc bed wetters on there 😂 No wonder I stopped going on there ages ago it’s awful.
