I like Mateta but his contract is until 2026 and he’s not a sure thing but I think he’ll continue to develop into a good PL forward

By his own admission he’s talked about issues with depression when managed by Mourinho but obviously that was a particularly toxic environment for him that was down to Mourinho being a twat. However, I don’t think as a player he comes across as incredibly mentally strong. His performances fluctuate a lot for someone with so much talent. I think he could be a success at a lot of clubs under the right management and with the right players but it’s definitely not a given

Anyway, the main point I was making was to do with his character. Man U are absolutely desperate for players who are incredibly professional and only want to get better and better. They really need to target the right characters otherwise they’re not going to turn things around

Fair enough, I see him as someone who always gives everything, he never stops running. He defends well, he plays well in transition and I think he’s improved a lot in the final third. I’d rather have Bruno as I think he has a higher potential ceiling but I think Rice is class
