  1. Incredible that Webb didn't give him a red card..

That's the stupidest comment I've ever read class, given your stature on the board that puts me right there with cockroaches note to self: try not to reason after a derby game! Ohh nooh..My stature on a posting board is low....Crisis

  4. The point with Loven is that he tracks back, which is priority number one when you're playing away...Obertan is sleepwalking..Loses blatantly the ball and doesn't bother to recover..
  5. Obertant has to go off..Doesn't track back at all...A lot of space is available behind Sland's defense..So yes, I want Loven on..
  6. Shea has been injured, 50/50 for this game..Looks like he didn't make it..
  7. Agreed..Except the lb it's a decent line up..And Shola must start because of his history against sland, and his defensive abilities..

    Steven Taylor

Oh shit...I thought you'd died a death last season are we going to endure more of this "insightful analysis" this season? Oh go fuck yourself..That Taylor has been error prone is common knowledge..If you read through this thread you'll probably find out that I'm not the only one with that opinion..Even though he had a great game against arsenal, his error could have cost us the game.
  9. The same could be said about us..We're furious if decent replacements don't arrive asap, forgeting all the contingencies the club has to consider: agents (who actively distorts information) work permits, , salary, current contract situation, a seller club that wants to get as much as possible, economical limitations, does he fit into our style of play, and subjective factors such as players' personality traits (will he blend with the group). If all these contigencies don't fall into place, a transfer might fall through..
  10. Says everything about the current salary level in PL.A mediocre player who has been injued or sitting on the bench more or less half his career is earning 90 000 a week..sick..
  11. Some of you will probably have a heart attack if he signs.Negative bastards..

nearly cost us the game! Exactly.. If we lost the match due to that error, everybody would have slaughtered his performance, regardless of how well he played the rest of the game.

Still skeptical..He does great things, but he's also have serious fuck ups because he's incapable of seeing his own limitations. The huge error against Arsenal was a good example. A defender will always be remembered for his errors. It doesn't matter that he plays superbly for 89 minutes if he manage to take on two arsenal players as the last defender and lose the ball. Another good example was in the last USA pre season match ..Two attackers had had the opportunity to head the ball, without any marking from us at all..Where do you think taylor was? At the goal line, just beside Krul...Above situations are rookie mistakes that I do not expect from a player that has been around for a while now.
  14. It's the same principle we're applying when discussing Colo vs Woodgate..Colo gets the prize because his stability..But when it comes to ability, Woody was the best..
  15. Bad formulation: They COULD have been the best PL defenders in the history of PL. But injuries have ruined their careers..Woodgate was only 23 years old when he played for us, and already a complete stopper..King did almost not touch a ball last season (swimming his preferred activity) before he went out and totally eliminated Suarez in their away match against Liverpool. I really don't think Ferdinand, Vidic or Terry would have been capable of doing that..So if only look at potential and talent, they are probably best I've seen in Pl..
  16. Isolated, Woodgate is the best defender I've ever seen in black and white..Together with King probably the two best defenders in the history of PL..Too bad injuries halted their careers. Colo is better with the ball, but Woodgate is unbeatable in the air and physically tougher in the duels. And his positioning play was perfect, although Colo is getting better and better in that area too..But overall, Colo is the man..His stability and the fact that he's never injured in invaluable..

    Joey Barton

It wasn't a red card conduct, but luckily for us the referee didn't use the rules correctly..If everything was done according to the book, Barton should receive a yellow for unsporting behavior and Arsenal rewarded a penalty..The referee didn't use the whistle when Gervinhio went down. Consequently he didn't spot Gervinhio's trick or thought it was a penalty..The game went on, until Barton assaulted him...Although I agree with barton in principle, he cannot behave like he did, neither before or after he was hit..We could have lost the game if the referee was more alert..

Nolan one of our best players? Get a grip..It's a reason why no other team than West Ham tried to sign him when the latter got a bid accepted

    Erik Pieters

There is also the flip side, where we sign a new LB before Enrique goes.... Liverpool then know we have two 'first choice' left backs... one of which desperately wants away, and they start throwing lower offers in for JE. Its just that fine balancing act of trying to get the best price for our player, but also trying not to pay over the odds for the next one. Spot on!
  20. Together with Tiote he's our must important player, without a doubt..He's is the glue which keeps the defense together..If Colo doesn't sign a new contract, we should not sell him unless we're offered stupid money..We're never going to find a similar player that we can afford anyways.

    Alan Pardew

Exactly..People need a reality check..We're in the infamous second season. We were up against one of the best teams in the PL, and we practically denied them chances..As Zero said, that was not because Arsenal was shit, but because we were extremely good in defense. For example, the Norwegian pundits had an analysis of how Shola of Jonas tracked back to help our defense. They also pointed out that we were good in our defensive pressure and to beat us, Arsenal had to use the wide men more and stop trying to thread the ball through the middle, where we had full control. .And as we saw, Arsenal were only dangerous the few times they managed to quickly distribute the ball to the side where we were unbalanced. Shola's backtracking was the reason why he was not substituted yesterday, and why Jonas would have played , regardless of Maveraux fitness.. To beat or get a point from Arsenal, you have to deny them space, which we managed with success. And we even lacked HBA, a attacker and a decent left back. In sum, Pards was spot on with his tactics..
