  1. Yep, me neither. We should have scored at least one in the first leg. Probably even a loss 2-1 could have possibly been better than 0-0. It's the same thing basically. We just need to win.
  2. This will be my 62nd game 'in Europe' tonight. 51 at home, 11 away. Anyone know where I can find a list of all our European fixtures? Would be interested in seeing how many I've been to. http://www.nufc.com/2012-13html/europe-stats.html
  3. Option 1 - we play for a draw and get beat Option 2 - we play for a draw and win by a goal Should be fun.
  4. The game he set up our goal which meant we're still in the EL? We wouldn't even be worrying about him vs Anzhi if he hadn't played. We'd have gone through even if we lost to them. You're confident that the way we were playing in autumn/winter that we'd have got a result in Bordeaux even with a strong XI? They were possibly the worst team we've played this season in the home game. A draw would have sufficed for us against their much weakened team but we played for a defeat and got one. This is a pointless discussion for many reasons

  6. We were told he was in fantastic condition when he came back and repeatedly told how close he is to playing. Shoot the messenger (pls). You keep saying this but you are ignoring the fact there is a disproportionate rate of recurrence with hamstring injuries so there is every likelyhood he has come back, looked fine and its gone again or at least he is feeling it and we won't want to risk him. You make it sound like we were guaranteed he would go straight back in the side and never be injured again. You've read the post I was responding to? People are getting criticised for wanting to see Hatty back in the squad when we were being told he's fit and close to being ready (against Swansea). Like I said, shoot the messenger.

  8. I got battered for saying we shouldn't play Hatty in that "meaningless" game

  10. "Clairefontaine have handed him over in fantastic condition. I thank them for that" Dr Pardew strikes again.
  11. http://www.nufc.co.uk/javaImages/2f/1c/0,,10278~11738159,00.jpg Pardew told nufcTV: "We've got such high hopes for him. "He's a terrific representative for this football club. Forget how good he's going to be - he's a lovely little kid, a lovely person from a lovely family and it was great for him. "Can you imagine coming on for eight minutes, he plays the simplest pass he's ever played probaby in his career to (Sylvain) Marveaux and Marveaux creates the goal. So the greatest pass he'll ever play, he's just played it. "But he'll do something better than that. He'll get a goal for us and smash one in the top corner one day and then hoepfully we'll have a real quality player on our hands." http://www.nufc.co.uk/javaImages/37/1c/0,,10278~11738167,00.jpg Assistant Manager John Carver also spoke to nufcTV and revealed that Campbell had been through a week of ups and downs in the build-up to his big-time bow. "He loves this football club," Carver said. "He's a proper local lad, he's come through the system which is credit to Joe Joyce and all the staff that worked with him like Willie (Donachie) and Peter (Beardsley). "He had a little bit of disappointment through the week because we pulled him out of the England squad to travel to Russia with us - which in a sense isn't really that disappointing but he wasn't able to represent his country. "And he almost got on on Thursday night (at Anzhi Makhachkala) but the manager just changed his mind at the last minute. But to get on in a Premier League game at his age - we know he's not the biggest but he's got a lot of quality and that's why he got his opportunity. "He deserves his opportunity. He's been scoring goals in the under-21 team and I was so pleased for him." And stand-in skipper Cabaye - who knows all about playing for his hometown club after starting out with Lille, near his birthplace of Tourcoign, added: "He's a young lad and he has a very good mentality. "He wants to play for his club because he's from Newcastle and he has a big motivation. I love his pace and he can score a lot of goals, I think. I was very happy to see him on the pitch. "I told him after the game and I hope it will give him a good mentality to keep working hard to stay in the team and to have a big career, because I think he has the potential to play really well for the team and to score many goals."
  12. I did actually ask him what the plan was mate and he said only the lower half. I guess that might change though if there's the demand surely? It'll be open. At this stage they'd be basically turning away fans as the lower sections are almost full.

If we're talking ifs and buts, If Cisse had been offside at the end how many would be defending the performance if it only got a 1-1 draw? IMO we deserved to draw. From memory (and MOTD) it was only that Cisse shot in the 98th minute which troubled the keeper from open play.
  14. Good of MOTD to show all of our great chances and numerous shots on target

I know I'm one to talk, but agenda is surely the only reason to say we played well today. Blindingly obvious who'd be making the "Leave him alone!" posts before you even log on.

And vice-versa, of course. "we played well" ffs.
  17. I can see the derby game being like this one. Very scrappy with both teams desperately trying not to lose.
  18. That bit is definitely true. It's not like we're just unlucky with good saves or blocks on the line, we just don't win headers in the opposition box. It's a slightly different point but we crossed the ball in loads today and never looked like a threat from it and we rarely do.
  19. Sep 4, 2012 "The set-plays were awful," said the boss. "The delivery - we hit the first man five times. That's why for a coach, it was frustrating. We were really frustrated that we weren't hitting the areas. "We are not brilliant at corners - our record suggests we haven't got great assets to score from corners. "(Mike) Williamson has never scored since he has been here; Steven (Taylor) has only got two or three; Colo (Fabricio Coloccini) hasn't got many goals. "We are not proficient, and maybe we have to re-think about how we are going to score from set-plays. Nov 28, 2012 “We have changed our whole outlook on set plays just this week. “We have had to change it once already this season because we are just not getting enough success. “There is not point sitting on your hands and saying ‘oh well it will come good’. You have to make changes.” “The bottom line is we need the first contact to be won. That’s where Stoke do very well. “They win the first contact and it always gives you a chance of scoring straight from that contact or the second contact.” Mar 10, 2013 "http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbcgd6noQu1rvqdhao1_1280.jpg"
  20. neither of our goals excite you ?, shame like. (Goals Aside)
  21. Observing the (far more than usual) birds flying above the ground or commenting on the bizarre weather. Nothing from the game.

We don't play Stoke every week

It's not. We have the players to actually play well and win convincingly but alas...
