Lammens has done really well with claiming and punching it. Seems mental that they have persisted with the same corner every single time.
-
Great counter that. First bit of quality all night.

This game is absolutely horrendous. Competitive field this season. What with so many wank games seemingly every week. But so far, it’s one of the worst I’ve seen.

Ride at Wolverhampton in the 4:25. Start in midfield in the Everton v Man U game at 8.
-
From the Barnes volley? Was going wide I thought?
-
Spurs fans must be spitting. Eze scoring 5 in 2 against them. Simons who they got after he turned them down. Looks like a massive waste of money

I fucking despise Gabriel. One of the worst in the league. If ever a player summed up what the team, manager and fans are all about.
-
And again
-
Gabriel doing his usual. Unconvincing dive under the slightest bit of contact. He was fouling Kolo Muani and got rinsed. So just hit the deck. Refs almost always give those ones. Seems the easier decision to make. Rather than letting it go and a chance playing out.

Declan Rice giving a big pep talk after the Eze goal. Only to then gift them a goal a minute later. LOOOOOOLLLLLLL

Ryder’s questions are laughably bad. “How disappointed are you that you lost the game?” “Losing a player to injury is a big blow isn’t it?” ”Are you happy you won the game?”
-
It will always happen when the ball isn’t in play, though. So unless there is a rule change. What can they do? Retake the free kick?

Agree with all of this. Surprised how much we stuck with the press considering how leggy I was expecting us to be second half. What has most impressed me from PSG onwards away from home. Is how we have gone some way to adapting our style or reverting back to what works for us. Had a lot more control over games and look far sharper on the ball. I guess I was a bit worried that we might not have actually started to turn the corner. Seeing as it was a woeful Spurs team, 10 man Villa and then Qarabag’s suicidal defending. But I think after last night. It shows we are on the right track. The Everton game will be a big test. As it’ll be the first one in a while where I don’t expect it to be end to end and our style won’t necessarily match up well against them. They will try to frustrate us and sit in a lot of the while. The players and the crowd will need to be patient if that ends up being the case.

The look at me lino. Was his naff tribal tat and short back and daft cunt haircut. Irritated me no end last night.
-
Yep. Arsenal do it all the time. I remember against us last season. They were doing it against us to get their players onside. Wait until the last minute and a blocker just barges a defender deeper than the rest of the line.

150 apps for us. Quality. Thought it would be lower for some reason. Surprised to see he has more apps for us than Spurs, too. Always thought he’d played most games for them. Not Burnley.

And the Champions League
-
4 goals in our last 3 games from shots outside the box. 3 of which were from fairly sizeable deflections. Glad we seem to finally having a crack from range.
-
The offside? What can even happen there? A retake of the free kick? It’s a deadball foul.
-
Like Kaka says. Unless Gordon shows he can play as a striker on a consistent basis. Or Wissa comes back and suddenly looks like a striker/Premier League level footballer. Then I think we have to. Like a stuck record on here on last summer’s transfer business. But the fact we have just spent £120-130m on two forwards and we already need another one. Is far from ideal, to put it politely.
-
Ah. Well that’s that then. Fuck sake

We have shown before that we go back in for players for a second, or even third time. I hope we do again here. I’d like us to sign him. I think it would be the first time I’ve ever watched a player from a relegated club and thought or said ‘I’d like us to sign him’. And it actually coming off.

Caught in two minds about last night. On the one hand. It was far different from our usual Etihad shitshow. We were brave with our press and leaving men up. We were much better on the ball again. Like we have been for most of the last 4-5 games or so. We created bits and pieces and were unlucky with the push on Burn for the offside goal. On the other, it felt like they were there for the taking and open at the back like they have been all season. Yet it looked like we never really believed we could get something out the game. TBH, watching it in the pub. Even with half an hour left. I didn’t think we would, either. Annoying that O’Reily scores two goals from midfield and being totally unmarked, too. Said in another thread that we can’t keep gifting them soft goals. Our record there is horrendous as it is and their team is littered with talent. So the least you can do is make them work hard for openings and goals. Not start games -1. Probably more positive than negative, despite the defeat. A week or two ago, I think most would have expected the usual hammering. Yet we were still in it right until the end. If we want to be challenging for the top 5 and more in the future again. It does feel like we have to start getting results away against the big 4 now and then.
-
Yeah. Sorry, just to be clear. I was on about Pope. Should have probably done better. But he was massively let down by his defence. So annoying that we keep gifting City a soft goal or two at their place. It’s fair to say we struggle at the Etihad never going to improve on our awful record there if we basically almost start the game -1.
-
I thought he should have done better. But the criminal defending leading up to the goal was more of an issue.
