Good analogy TBF. Is Newcastle/Burnley the Poundland version?
-
For those asking who fucked off straight down the tunnel. The answer is most of them. Notice ASM having a hissy fit when Ritchie tries to get him to stay out. I get they are fucked off. As they should be. But a bit of a clap and a hand up to recognise they were not good enough and appreciate the support would have gone a long way. As others have said above. Seems like the fans have had enough of this bunch now. Fragile fuckers with inflated egos. Nowhere near as good as they think they are.
-
Ooff. Yeah, that is a bad sign. When it’s unanimous. Other fans opinions on players and managers are usually worth listening to. As we have found out a good few times. Just to play devil’s advocate. Burnley do play anti-football. Who’s to say he doesn’t perform better in a new set up and a team that is at least trying to progress into a more attacking outfit?
-
Which bigger shocks were these? Just had a look through and only really Burnley losing to Huddersfield and Plymouth at Birmingham look like upsets. Oh and Reading losing at Kidderminster. Don’t think any are worse than our defeat, though.
-
He has always seemed busy, runs channels and holds the ball up well. Absolute lump, so would have a chance of getting on the end of crosses and set pieces at the very least. Uninspiring. But I’d take him in a heartbeat. Such is our precarious position.
-
So many problem areas, mate. Hard to know where to start! Sort out the sieve like defence and possibly even look at a new keeper? Try and add more goals in the middle and up top? A DM that would give us a bit of control over the game? A winger that will actually try to take on his man AND try to get a cross in? What a shower of shite.
-
Not exactly an exciting signing. But even an awful striker (I think he is ok, not awful) would be preferable to nothing, at this moment in time.
-
Standard of opposition should probably be factored in. We wasted some softer fixtures and lost or drew earlier in the season. Plus Norwich under Howe was a write off.
-
Even an older striker who isn’t prolific or a young gun on loan, possibly both, would still massively help. Someone as a focal point in this set up seems pretty important. Which is stating the obvious, I guess.
-
I like Murphy, as well. His pace is a threat and he will actually have a pop. Although one of his efforts yesterday was tame as fuck.
-
I guess we are at the point now where we just accept the bloated fees and go shit or bust. Or we try and be sensible, as relegation still seems more likely than not. Need to start chucking daft money about if they are serious about staying up.
-
Outside of ASM. Murphy looks like the only one that may chip in with a few. But Howe doesn’t seem to rate him that highly and he is massively up and down when he plays. Like no middle ground. Either looks like our best player or our worst. Sometimes in the same passage of play

Can’t see them letting Wood go. Just read he went off with a tight groin yesterday. Vydra has Covid and a hernia. Barnes isn’t fit for a few weeks yet. Not a glamorous signing. But I’d still be buzzing if we go him and hopefully one other. Some of these crosses might have someone on the end of them if he was up top.
-
Agreed. Been hoping for a while we’d go for him and seems realistic and one we could sort quickly, like you say.

Another false dawn with Shelvey and his workrate and output. Surely not?!

Well then I bow to your superior knowledge and of course no player has ever faked an injury to try and het sympathy for yet another one of their fuck ups. -
Not sure what the option is. But there must be a better one? If Clark is fit or doesn’t have Covid. I think I’d honestly rather that walking disaster there than Ritchie. At least he is a defender. Well, sort of.

Like ASM is injured every week. Then sprints, then is supposedly injured again. Only to be fine the next game. I remember Guthrie being stretchered off and playing a week later to mask his fuck up in the cup. Not really making it up. I’m saying it happens and I’m not buying it was a genuine injury in this case. You’ve never played football with a hypochondriac type? All teams have them, at all levels, no? -

Fair enough. Personally not buying it and loads of players pull this shit. I’m sure he will be perfectly fine in the next game and it’s just his bruised ego after another fuck up. -

De Gea levels of faking injury when play is still ongoing. Awful to see. Obviously a glutton for punishment. As I watched the goal back about 20 times. Still no idea why he doesn’t go at the striker’s feet and hold onto the ball? He comes flying out to make himself big like Ironside is going to get a shot off. Then just jumps over the ball. So he obviously could have got there with his hands. -
“Boring isn’t it. Staying in and drinking lemon barley water. Not for me. I like it.”
-
This place is always like this after a defeat. Par for the course with football fans, I guess. But I suppose with ASM, it’s the attitude and application he shows. Whilst simultaneously being held to a higher standard, as he is our best player. I think it’s understandable, to some degree.
-
Considering how tight Ashley is. We have wasted decent money on some bang average crap players in the last few years or so. Kind of balanced out with a good few steals and the likes of ASM and Wilson who have contributed. But Almiron, Willock and Joelinton combined cost what? £80m?
-
I don’t even think we need to spend obscene money to improve this midfield. Seems there are better players in the Championship FFS. You know. Ones that can pass a ball, run with it, tackle, contribute with the odd goal or assist. Surprised we have not been linked with Lerma again.

Usually a pet hate people going all amateur psychologist and body language expert. But this season, he always looks like he is about to cry and he’s being held here against his will Didn’t see the lack of pace and fitness so much before. But today, he looked leggy as fuck. I hope that’s because he has just got Covid. Not that his abilities and effort have dropped the minute we made his signing permanent.
