What sort of comments are we talking about here? If it is abuse, then obviously that's not on. But if it is to do with perceived workrate and effort and also to do with how poor to average he has been for nearly all of 2025. Then I don't think they're scandalous at all. Second highest earner (allegedly) and he still only has a handful of decent games in the last however many months. He was MOTM against Benfica and again on Saturday. Along with looking very lively off the bench last week. So he can obviously still perform to a high level. He just needs to do it on something approaching a consistent basis now.

Had the displeasure of listening to Andy Cole and Luke Edwards discussing the Salah thing on the radio. Cole is a terrible pundit. No idea why he gets work. He was just purely on Salah’s/ the player’s side and was failing to see how bad it looks. Dismissed how Salah only talks to the press when he wants something. Edwards was as annoying as ever. But was making a decent argument against Salah’s carry on. What a shitshow all round. Oh well

Mate I go to the game with thinks that he’s overrated mental. Otherwise agree on a lot of football opinions and he’s a really intelligent bloke. So I find it all the more strange. The corner was right in front of us. I enjoyed repeatedly slapping him on the head and telling him how wrong he was during the celebrations

It helped that he squared him up and beat him down the outside early on. Seemed full of confidence and happy to go at him at will after that. Basically beat him every time, as well.

Needs to learn to do the Gordon/Barnes back post run. Otherwise known as the Sterling. Just noticed on the highlights he seemed to slow down for a split second off the Gordon cross. Which meant he couldn’t quite get to the ball. Probably wasn’t expecting the early cross. But we have done that a lot under Howe. So he needs to be busting a gut to get into the box.

Just realised he has 5 league goals already. 3 of those were absolute bangers and all. Plus a last minute winner. If he could get close to double figures in goals and also assists. Then he’d basically be the complete midfielder. Not that he’s far off right now.

Thought he was ok. Trying to form new partnerships all across the pitch and we looked a bit clueless for the first 20. Willock and Ramsey were guilty of leaving a lot of space in the channels off the ball. I thought both were fine after that and stupid handball aside. I don’t get all the criticism aimed at Ramsey.

I think it is just the modern day thing of someone else holding the ball until the last minute. Taking the pressure off the taker. All the mind games and chatter are deflected that way. Trippier started doing it 2-3 seasons back. I’d imagine Woltemade would like to take them, mind.

I always think this. But Howe never seems to rotate his wingers during the game. Barnes is too good of a finisher to leave out. But he is a bit wasted on the right. I’d rather Gordon plays there.

In a game where I thought nobody really shone for us, bar Gordon and Thiaw. I thought he was decent enough. It can’t help that every time he gets the ball. The whole crowd seem to moan and groan and are just waiting for a perceived mistake so they can kick off. The bloke behind me in the Leazes was a special case. Everything he did was wrong. “Where’s he going. He’s going too wide?!” ”Why is he coming inside?!” “Why is he not running in behind?!” ”What’s he doing coming short?!” ”Why isn’t he taking him on?!” ”What’s he doing taking him on?!” ”Why’s he not 9 foot tall so he could have got on the end of it.” Then just generally abusing him at every opportunity. Saying how crap he is, the club is too big for him etc.

He clearly is being ‘targeted’. Most teams chuck corners in like that now. But he is rooted to his line and plays like he’s about 5 inches shorter than he is. Needed Burn and Woltemade to bail him out from what I saw. Not digging him out. It is what it is and I hope in the right games. His ability on the ball can help us out. Bur considering Pope was called worse than shite. It hasn’t been anywhere near the upgrade this forum would have had you believe. He looks nervy as fuck.

Almost the perfect game for us ahead of a big week/10 days. Shame we couldn’t rack the score up and also that we couldn’t keep a clean sheet. But I’ll take the positives. Gordon back to his best. Thiaw flawless. Willock was lively. Elanga showed glimpses. We got to rest players and keep the squad happy. Our fans get worse, mind. All I heard around me was how shit Elanga, Willock and Ramsey were. All whilst applauding shit passes or shots from anyone else. Entitled as fuck.
