The fifth placed finish (despite the shite football), staying in the PL and money are the only justifications I can see for giving him any more time. I don't think they're looking at the long term in terms of their ambitions for the club, if Pardew can keep us on the PL gravy train and generate some income through Carr's scouting talent then I think they'll be happy enough. Basically, if we're not getting rid of him now with so many decent managers available and that abortion of a season behind us then we're stuck with him.
-
Yeah, if we get two new strikers then it makes sense for him to go on loan. I don't really rate Sammy so I wasn't including him in my thinking.
-
I'd agree with most of that. It'd be good to see Vuckic have a prolonged spell injury free and get a bit of game time. Campbell I wouldn't send out on loan though. If we bring in one more striker then i'd rather see AC take Shola's place on the bench as 3rd choice.

Gouffran's a bit of a billy no mates like. He only had his shin pads to talk to.

I just walked past, he's still there. Everyone else has gone home, the serving staff have fallen asleep and the chef has gone out to catch a cat as he's run out of meat. Hatem was chewing on the table to keep him going until the next course. Every all you can eat buffet in Newcastle is quaking in it's boots right now.

Meaning we should spend £15m on an injury prone scruff or? He isn't injury prone. Even based on his West Ham form Carroll would absolutely stroll into our side and look bloody good in it. I disagree. I could imagine Pardew continuing with his 4-2-3-1 which would mean Cisse being shunted out onto the right again as happened when Shola / Ba were in that role. Even if we played a 4-4-2 to accommodate him then it'd be punted balls at his head except this time there's no Barton to deliver them and no Nolan to feed off the scraps and support him in the box. And anyway, Leo Messi wouldn't look good in our side the way we're playing.

You've followed us for 45 years and think Souness, McGarry, Roeder, Charlton and Allardyce were better than Pardew? I think you're letting a poor season blind you to reason mind. Souness, McGarry, Roeder, Charlton and Allardyce did not have squads that were 100% set up to play football on the deck like we are now. In the majority of cases they had squads that only enabled them to play in the way that Pardew is making our squad play now. We are 'OFFICIALLY' the long ball kings in the Premier League this season. It's a crying shame that he is making us play the way we are with the squad we have and that is why for me he is the worst ever. Most of the managers you mentioned had nowhere near the level of player he has at his disposal. One poor season with us, OK would give you that. What about the other poor seasons at other clubs. He's a dud. Souness inherited Bobby's squad and SBR had them playing decent enough stuff. edit: Our long ball stats did improve in the 2nd half of the season. We were ahead of Stoke as a percentage of passes that were long balls for the first half of the season.

Aye but he was always on time. Famous for being on time, fascists.
-
I hope he can turn this around otherwise we can write off yet another season.
-
They tried to release one but Ben Arfa ate it.
-
It's going to be incredibly frustrating if we stick with Pardew when there just happens to be so many decent managers available.

Stan Collymore @StanCollymore 4m Whelan '' Martinez wants 24hrs more to make his decision, my gut feeling is he wants to stay, tomorrow is D-day''. @talkSPORT LIVE Hope he's waiting for the outcome of this meeting.

I think this is the first time things have gone tits up in his reign and he hasn't got the blame. That's gotta make him a little bit happy.
-
He's a monster on FM2012

Is it? Have the details been reported anywhere? The received wisdom of the internet trumps any actual facts or reports silly.

Just to put this into perspective, £15m this season would have bought any of the following: Lukas Podolski Olivier Giroud Christian Benteke Victor Moses Demba Ba Dimitar Berbatov Wilfried Zaha Loic Remy Emmanuel Adebayor Clint Dempsey Shinji Kagawa That's just from the PL. Way better ways we could spend that cash.

Get out of it, the swing bridge has more chance of signing for us. It's younger and more mobile too.
-
It doesn't make a difference whether the fans are moaning or not. It doesn't make any difference to the club, but it makes our lives fucking miserable. After this week I have to agree with Brett, better batten down the hatches and look forward to next season. It obviously won't be near as bad as this one. Hopefully we'll get a bit of business done early in the window and inject a bit of positivity. I hate feeling so negative about where the club is heading.

How are you actually falling for this utter bullshit is beyond me. Guess you didn't see the little smiley and the sentence after it.
-
Proof if it was needed that we should keep AP away from transfers Can't see Mike going for this.
-
As I remember he was the ringleader of the drinking culture at the club at the time. From my point of view it seems Ferguson was cutting the head off the snake and the rest of the squad fell into line pretty quickly after that.
-
I just think it'd be a backwards step for us to sign him. At £15m I bet Carr could get two or three decent players who will improve us more than Carroll. Yes, he might suit our particular brand of hoofball but in my opinion the solution is not to sign someone who will allow us to play more effective hoofball, it's to stop playing hoofball.
