I thought this too until Carragher actually highlighted how kind the fixture list has been (I've barely paid attention until the takeover went through) + the fact we still have to play Liverpool, Man City & Chelsea twice. That's 6 games with probably 0 points - so that will be 14 games with 3 points. It leaves 24 games to get probably 37 points. Not impossible but it's extremely worrying now. Can't see us getting anything from Palace either FWIW. We need points fast.

Newcastle United 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur - 17/10/21

Regardless Bruce, the Sports Direct signs or whatever else still remains from the Ashley era, it was an absolutely fantastic, moving day. The emotion I felt hearing Big River - namely 'the river will rise again' followed by Local Hero, is something that will live long in the memory. Tears in my eyes and goosebumps all over - I'm getting them again as I type this. As I've touched on previously, I lost my brother this summer who was a season ticket holder with me until we packed in when Benitez left. I'm fucking devastated he never got to experience this but I know wherever he is, he would have been smiling down. Town was incredible beforehand, you really could feel it in the air. St James' was full about 10 minutes before kick off. Was a proper old school atmosphere that will live with us all forever. That hasn't been felt in God knows how long. There's kids there who would have never, ever have experienced anything like that. I do fear the crowd in general has changed but hopefully in time we will get it bouncing again. A lot will depend on certain people getting their Season Tickets back, it's sad to read many have just completely fallen out of love with it and don't intend to go back - I know a few myself. I feared I'd be one of them but was so moved and how easily the switch flicked for me being in the Gallowgate. It's a mighty shame the team and match itself was shocking, and the head coach is a circus animal, but for now it's just important for us all to come to terms with having Newcastle United back in our lives feels fucking amazing. The river will rise again indeed. Hats off to all those involved in saving that bloke's life too. Remarkable people and would like to think the club invite them as guests to the next game. -
First time I've had the pleasure of watching this lad and it seems he's as bad at football as his boss is at managing.

Anyone up for partying back at St James' when this useless prick gets binned? Seriously though, I know it's easy to say now, but I honestly believe with a new man there yesterday - Jones or otherwise - we would have went on to get a result. The emotion from the crowd basically got them the first goal, but the team quickly reverted to type. Having not been to St James' Park since the Liverpool game under Benitez, I can't say I've watched much of Bruce's NUFC. It was just a pure shambles, non-existent midfield with the plan seemingly to give it to ASM. I definitely won't be criticising the new owners anytime soon if I can help it, but it genuinely is completely detrimental to our season the longer he's there. We need points fast, the Christmas fixtures are God awful. Hopefully they have seen enough yesterday to understand this pillock has stolen a living for 1000 fucking games. Hideous bloke stuck in the 90s. 'Let's play'.

Incredibly moving display. Tear in my eye. Hats off to all involved. Always thought we should incorporate Big River and I’m coming home Newcastle in our songbook, especially away from home -
Really, really hope they don't make a huge thing of it being his 1000th game. Presentation or what not. If they do, and I really prefer if there wasn't any negativity in SJP on Sunday if we can help it (more likely now considering will probably behind for large spells), I hope the fucker is booed from start to finish. When Spurs fans inevitably sing 'SACKED IN THE MORNING', I hope we join in. I can live with it for Sunday, just because of how it all went through so fast and they've probably walked into a shitstorm, but it's still a very poor decision in my book and does put a minor blot on what should be a fantastic occasion. As others have touched on, hopefully we can all just ignore him as if he wasn't there, but fuck him. Build a fucking bonfire with the SD signs and get Bruce and Charnley to do the manual work. Both reminders of a horrible period in our history and the sooner they are gone, the better. Fair play for addressing it though, that is more than welcome. Communication is going to be key, as well as alien to us after 14 years of fuck all.

Fucking love Keegan, man. Like unconditional love. Hope they bring him to a home game soon - would love him on the pitch before kick off, but knowing him he'd rather have no fuss and just enjoy being in St James' again. Absolute legend, get a statue commissioned ASAP

Would love to be a fly on the wall in Luke Edwards' house the day Bruce is finally sacked. The relentless prick will be beside himself. I'd ban the cunt for life personally. Fucking weapon. Hopefully goes to report on Lincoln or whoever else Bruce winds up rinsing for the next few years.

Will be interesting if there is anything to the fact it's been pushed back 4hrs from the usual time of 09:30. Would presume not. If this shithouse had anything about him, he'd have said to Staveley on Monday he knows he isn't the man for the job and will shake hands on a package to walk away. Unfortunately, he's made over £20m from sackings (could be wrong on this, but I've read it somewhere) during his 999 game managerial career, so that's out the window.
-
My worry with this is that if we win on Sunday, with him in the dugout, then you'll have literally everyone in the media telling us he needs a chance to prove himself for the coming games (more so than some already are). I'm not too bothered as we have what we wanted in terms of ownership now, but can't pretend it doesn't sort of spoil Sunday a little. Wanted it to be a clean break from Ashley - but he will go soon, so can't complain.
-
Had no idea about this. Just shows the difference between the two blokes really. 'Would just be my luck not to get my 1000th game'. Fucking prick.
-
Course not man, soon as Bruce is peddled you won't get moved online for hints of managers wanting it. Also, look how the takeover (towards the end) was kept under wraps. Appreciate they were apparently forced to do it fast, but Downie said yesterday he got wind 5 weeks ago it could be on the cards and nothing leaked. Got no doubt at all it just happened so fast that they've barely had time to breathe yet, but also no doubt the consortium have had agents touting their clients for the job. Still think they'll want a simultaneous announcement. Bruce out and either Jones for a bit (if he fancies it) or their new man announced within a day or 2 of Bruce going.

Been wondering this myself for ages!

Didn't Ashley (may have been Fat Sam's idea from memory) get rid of it for a while? I'm sure we walked out to Sham 69 for a bit during the 07/08 season - and possibly beyond. -
Aye, the commentators thought it was the Wolves game until Bruce corrected them. Either way, hope he's binned today, although it'll be fun to see him squirm in his press conference tomorrow when he gets the inevitable questions on when he's going.

They deserve their tickets back more than any other. Apart from Rafa and a select few others, these really have been the shining light of NUFC in the Ashley era. Good on them for taking a stand too, when the trust perhaps didn't. Will always have my respect, as speaking from personal experience it wasn't easy. Top work @Heron and all the others involved. Fucking class. -
I'd be over the moon with Rodgers, like. Haven't really thought about him as thought it far too unrealistic, however the noise does seem to have ramped up slightly with him. Said in another thread, if we could get him and someone like Campos in, it would really send out a serious message that we mean business. Rodgers specifically - in a good place at the minute - yes not a great start but loads missing at the back for them. If they'd have managed to persuade him via a vision for next 3-5 years, then it would be extremely encouraging as a fan. Would clearly be promised funds and investment into training facilities, for him to be tempted to leave Leicester who are probably about 3-5 years ahead of us, if not more.
-
If that's the case and he does (hopefully) leave before Sunday, surely that gives off a worse impression by new owners with regards to a PR win? Personally hope he's canned a minute before kick off but it probably looks a bit shitty to string the bloke along all week. No sympathy at all by the way, just if PR was considered in any way, taking him till later in the week, albeit hilarious for us, just gives Bruce's media pals a stick to beat them with imo.
-
Campos would be a hell of a statement. IF it was him and Rodgers, then fuck me. We know they definitely mean business then.
-
Unfortunately think you're right. As shit as it is - I also reckon Shearer would have had his say to let him have his 1000 game. Load of bollocks, and ultimately could be detrimental to the mood and result. Hoping the fans can drag the players to a result, as Spurs are definitely beatable. Either way, everyone will know Bruce is on borrowed time, especially the players.
-
Me too. I’d go as far as saying the reason I actually packed in was the faith I had in the trust actually approaching the club when they were taken over to try get them back. Was very hard giving up 150 points, more so for my old man. But I convinced him the trust would do their bit when we eventually were taken over. Would be a kick in the bollocks if they don’t at least try, and it would just confirm my suspicions that it was a quick way to gain more members in 2019.
-
Agree, often thought the loyalty points should be a permanent thing. Maybe I am bias but some have to give it up for work/relocation/money etc, but would be nice if they still had option to go to the odd away day.
-
Shower of shit. Will be interesting to see if the Trust approach the club about boycotting fans/loyalty points as their 2019 scheme promised (still on their website now) or if it was just purely a ploy to gain more members. Would be good to hear from the members on here - sorry to be cynical but I just can’t imagine that cunt ever trying for people who left given he’s a super fan support the team type of fella.
