Would tend to agree with this. Not excusing the two horrendous decisions he made, but simply by getting into the position to actually do something he had a better game than the likes of Gouffran and Murphy, who did the square root of fuck all.
I still think it's likely that the mental and physical stress of him being heavily relied on for the past few years is probably the main reason he's regressed as much. He's played in practically every game for the past three years in a struggling team and he's still only 23.
There's no question about his ability imo, but I don't know what the answer is to get him performing again.
Burnout? Played a lot of games for us since joining considering he was/is so young. Can't be a coincidence that his best season was his first one here.
Depends who else is playing really. If Atsu and Ayoze are playing then probably Mitro, but if Gouffran and Diamé are playing then it's Gayle. Got to have the right combination of pace and power up top.
Come on, mate. We didn't come close to scoring against one of the worst defences in the league and once again our hideous central defence was exposed for what it is. We're concede for fun and struggle to break teams down. We're heading for the Championship without significant investment in January.
Mitrovic and Wijnaldum have both come very close to scoring. We've been the better team by miles.
