I still think the non-tracking back at the beginning of the second half was a tactical change to keep him further up the field as he basically wasn't in the game first half. Saw Joelinton pointing at him to stay up a few times. It was too weird otherwise.

You don’t think we have been much more effective winning the ball higher up the pitch in the last couple of games? We are not good in possession at all and we’re still massively over-reliant on ASM in attacks, but we are playing well without the ball now I think. The defensive line is much higher and there is an organised press that starts very high. I think we’ve won games because we’ve pressed effectively, got the crowd on side with that and been more organised generally.

Can’t believe someone said he was poor tactically. The way he has been playing in midfield but covering the bulk of what would usually be ASM’s defensive work as well takes an extremely tactically adept player.

Everything good about our recent form has been our work without the ball, not with it and Wood has been good in that regard. Surprised at how fit he is to be honest. He hasn’t been good in possession admittedly, but I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s been shite as it ignores the above. And honestly I am/was gutted we spent £25m on him.
