Not necessarily, if you play 4-4-2 you would have the two strikers and two wingers as being primarily attacking players and could still accomodate a box to box midfielder. It depends if the 3 attacking mids were all given free roles or if they are expected to put a shift in going backwards as well. That would be fine if Marveaux, Ben Arfa and/or N'Zog were actually willing to put in a defensive shift, which I don't think they will. Marveaux is very lazy defensively from what I've heard, and I don't see Ben Arfa being one to be tied down to a position like left midfield
-
If Marveaux, HBA and N'Zog were all to play at once, we'd definitely need two defensive midfielders on the pitch too. Cabaye will have to stay back with Tioté, which is fine by me

Think that's more because Bolton didn't have the money due to shelling out a ridiculous amount for Johan Elmander a week or two before Guthrie signed for us
-
Why? He offers us very little, especially if we're after Matuidi and going to play a 4-3-3. He's a decent player when given a run in the team. Proved that at Bolton and even with us for a while. Good backup for us

Please don't sell Guthrie, Pards

From what I've seen and heard, Forster is probably better than Krul at the moment. Krul's a good shot stopper, but he doesn't half make some silly mistakes like. Forster has more experience too. Either way, I'd be happy to see Krul or Forster as our first choice next season. Out with the old and all that

nah, Liverpool are planning on a £25m bid for Danny Rose. Sturridge isn't overrated enough for them
-
I agree. If he's willing to take a pay as you play contract there's nothing to lose How about Matuidi? I'm pretty sure we wouldn't buy him if we got Hargreaves. Why wouldn't we? I don't think we'd be expecting Hargreaves to be able to play for most of the season, so we could get Matuidi anyway. No fee and we wouldn't be losing any money on wages if Hargreaves was on a pay as you play deal, either. Hargreaves could play right back for us anyway when he plays

Don't want Taarabt anywhere near this club

Two defensive midfielders is ideal for playing a quick counter attacking style 4-2-3-1. See the Dutch's football in Euro 2008. It does however mean you have to have an attacking midfielder (Sneijder in Holland's case). None of Tioté, Cabaye or Matuidi really fit that role

suspended betting seems to mean very little, but hopefully I'm proved wrong

Danny Simpson is a championship player and nothing more. Said it before, but RB should be a priority for us. Simpson is a half decent back up in the prem

bitter Scousers. Absolutely no surprises there. Deluded as well if they think a top 6 finish is possible. Spurs, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U all way ahead of them
-
Great signing. 3 year contract is just about the right length too for him
-
Can't see him joining us though
-
We need to go for Pablo Piatti. Can't understand why we wouldn't. One of the best left sided players in Spain, and his team (Almería) were relegated this season, so he'd most likely be interested
-
Has the Nile Ranger/Flava Flav one been done yet?
-
Who cares? Just get on with supporting what we have left at the end of the window.
-
We're signing Richard Naylor?
-
Marvin Martin would be our best player if we were to sign him. Going to be a top player from what I've seen. Can't see him joining us. The top teams in France will be after him (and possibly Europe). A midfield Trio of: Cabaye---Martin ------Tioté------- Would be capable of really excellent football though

Wigan researcher for Football Manager reckons N'Zogbia's had a medical at Arsenal. Don't know his source or why he thinks this, mind

I know. I changed the month on it to June and celebrated when I saw his chubby little face.
