Aaron Hickey playing in Bologna?
-
He’s free. He can pass. He can tackle. He’s better than Longstaff.
-
Lingard doesn’t play wide right.
-
If the attacking side of his game was better right now (whether down to form, attitude, intelligence in when to pass etc) then any defensive issue would be balanced out. When he offers nothing going forward other than running down blind alleys, ending up on his arse and throwing his hands in the air, then people will also criticise the lack of covering back also. He’s been pretty poor for a few months now and giving the team nothing.
-
In fairness, Rodgers transfer spend has largely been offset by the sales of Chilwell, Maguire and Mahrez.
-
Abramovich was quoted £1bn a while ago to upgrade the stadium- this has been factored in as part of the deal.
-
Don’t think even then. When the balance of the club has swung so much from sporting and football into a pure money making business, it won’t change simply by getting a good coach in- the top officials and the Glazers have to be replaced. I read the other day about club officials wanting to sign players purely on how well the player name was trending on twitter (and presumably then future shirt sales), as opposed to where they’d actually fit into either the team or the club philosophy. Whilst that still happens, and people are still at the club with that sort of mentality there’s no chance of turning the club around and returning to the ‘glory days’.

A fortune, just like they do every year. The last 10 years they’ve outspent every other club in world football.
-
From CR7? Look of death in their direction?
-
And those cunts that want the Super League to go ahead want the likes of this to be meaningless….
-
Send him to the Championship for a season and see how he develops/copes for me.

“We want West Bromwich to be at the top end of the division, not the bottom end and unfortunately we’ve been in the bottom half of the division once or twice in the past few weeks. To improve on that is the key to it and I let other people judge that. We’ve got to take this run of good form into next season now, and push on for those promotion places. There are some good teams in this division, and teams who can go and spend more than we can, but I’m confident that when the players finally adjust to my way of playing (and that’ll take time, no doubt about it), then we’ll be a force to be reckoned with. These things don’t just happen overnight though. Just look at that fella from Bournemouth. It took him a while to get going, and he had to spend £100m…” -

“Something to build on” -
Was it DC United and Columbus Crew that we played before? Something like that, anyway. edit- Kansas and Columbus. Maybe DC was another time? https://www.columbuscrew.com/news/who-newcastle-united-fc

It’s not just a one off shirt deal though. Clubs have multiple shirt deals (sleeves etc), plus there’s the training ground sponsorship (Everton got £6m per year), St James’, the team bus, anything else (Everton again got £30m just for future first option of ground naming). It all stacks up. We’ve been left behind in all this for years, and a major part of why we’ve lagged so far behind nearly every other fucking team.
-
Not to mention the value of playing ‘assets’ compared to ours. Lukaku was £100m alone (granted that wouldn’t necessarily be £100m added to the value of the club as such, but it shows a comparative.)
-
Abramovich gets absolutely nothing. The money to actually buy the club (£2.5bn?) is put into a special frozen account and then is only released on government say so to the charities that will be specified. He also writes the £1.5bn debt off that the club owes to him.
-
Part of the total price includes that they are committed to spending £1bn on infrastructure redevelopment including the stadium.
-
By ‘squad player’, I’d say that also means young high potential players like Ekitike who won’t be playing every game, but could fill an automatic first team position in 2-3 years all going well.

Wut? Am I not reading this right? Shearer scored 45 penalties for us out of his 206. Cole ‘only’ scored 55 goals in total. -

206 goals in 405 appearances for us, despite career threatening and play altering injuries. The man talks shite about Bruce, and has done himself no favours with other off-field matters, but whilst on the pitch he was incomparable and a rightful NUFC and PL legend.
