I’m starting to sound like a broken record but given the state of transfer fees now €25m for ASM with his prime years ahead of him while he’s sat on a 3 year deal is all kinds of shit for us. He has one good season where some of his chances are converted and that fee is literally doubled. I know he’s got some haters but that isn’t a highly unlikely scenario either. We’re getting bumped here. To sign Harvey Barnes.

If that fee is as low as reported - some saying £25m - then I don’t think it’s unfair to question whether PIF’s project with us is now lower in the pecking order than the Saudi league.

Agree with the sentiment. It won’t be Kvara but given what we’re losing it’s got to be re-invested with someone who’s going to significantly improve us as we don’t have a champions league ready squad.

If he does go to Saudi it better be for an astronomically high fee. PIF have bailed out a couple of teams in the Premier League so if it’s less than £50m I’d be disappointed. Neves was around that so it’s hardly out of the question - I’m sure the usual suspect journalists will cry foul play regardless.

If the decision is to sell Maxi when his stock is low to fund signing Harvey Barnes then that’s straight up dumb as fuck. Some fans have developed a weird narrative around ASM for the last season and seem determine to see him as shit. The stats only problem is perfectly illustrated here because Barnes on paper is way better but doesn’t cause the opposition the same tactical alternation Maxi causes. It’s such a backwards step. Before people say trust Howe/Ashworth Liverpool were the best team in the world for a couple of season with fantastic recruitment then made some dumb signings. Mistakes can be made.

Yeah, actually I think so. I don’t think we’re maintaining top 4 with Almiron and Murphy. So if he was predominantly a RW with those numbers I think it’d make more sense.

To be fair it was a bit like when we all thought Emery was going to sign and we got Howe. A good majority of the fan base thought it was a step back and it turned out alright.

Serious question. Whenever we’ve played Leicester in the past couple of seasons has anyone been overly worried about Harvey Barnes? Compare that to opposition threads about ASM. He’s a good run and a bit of luck from producing some good figures.
