  1. True Real did make most of their extra time. I don't have the answer really, I am not keen on going straight to pens, maybe reduced time makes sense. Just seems to be a pattern at the moment, especially with Egypt doing it ACON a lot. Football should have a think about it.
  2. So almost every game that I've seen recently that's gone to extra time has remained scoreless and gone on to pens, with exceptions of course. It seems though you end up with a tired teams being very conservative and it's hardly a spectacle. Is it time to consider alternatives?
  3. Bit worried what happens now if the hierarchy decide not to sign him for whatever reason now lol Bruno aint going to be happy
  4. I mean aren't their ruls against tapping up/
  5. There's a lot of value in a player who definitely gets it in the dressing room, fits in enjoys it, listens to manager and the fans already appreciate. NEw player in may look fantastic on youtube but not fit in, so I would find it slightly extraordinary if we don't sign him. It wouldnt shock me if we bought competition in fairly short order mind, our team needs depth as well.
  6. That attitude made sense when we were scraping by. Bring them all on! I don't think we will win that many against 'top 6' or really trouble them that much next season but I don't think any of them will want to play us at home at any point.

    Overrated players

Saka's mint but you often see it in young players, get huge confidence initialy and do really well but then have a difficult time or whatever after a long season or so. Developed right he should gain consistency, or the other way he may not turn into the player hoped for but he deserves patience.
  8. Best wishes, i still get annoyed at some of the stick he got particularly in the bruce era. Not the highest quality but always worked hard, played through some tough personal circumstance and still think people underestimate the job he did in Rafa's 3-4-3 when we briefly looked a proper team again. Hope he gets premier league footy
  9. dear god if that happened it would be the biggest and quickest bursting of a bubble ever. Suddenly its clear the owners will be a disaster after all, all the well earned team spirit gone and disbelief from fans. You would almost have to just laugh
  10. Imagine going back a year and showing that to us end of last season You;d never believe it
  11. Pretty much this, the board certainly have made a bunch of mistakes with poor transfers but don't think anything wrong with Arteta clearing out a bunch of them for a young side with potential, but they are just that, they clearly lack a nous, they are streaky, win a bunch in a row then have a bunch of losses in a row. Need some signings, need more experience. I saw a lot saying how much of a disaster Europa league is and some arsenal fans decrying how embarrassing it is, but quite frankly if that team want to compete for the top 4 they need toughening up. Playing a gruelling schedule and playing Genk away on a Thursday night could be exactly what they need to face champions league a season later. They need depth adding and a striker sure.
  12. While yes we make his passing look average on there he's still in 96th percentile for successful passing under pressure
  13. Just clocked, after that game of high intensity pressing from us we didn't get a single yellow card...

    Joelinton

Should be asleep right now but cant stop grinning watching bruno joining in the song
  15. I think that's slightly unfair, gerrard and lampard get plenty of wanking off from the press too. It did feel unfair he didnt get given a shot immediately after but he has used his time away to develop which is what a lot of british coaches fail to do. I think kinda we were suited to this, as grim as the bruce years were we have never had a 'toxic' dressing room really (the toxicity all came from Bruce more than anything) the players were dragging us over the line frequently but there was no plan and under bruce they were bascally given half the days off and do fuck all when meant to be training. The camaraderie has got better but it was there before there are lot of good characters in dressing room ready for Howe's approach
  16. Can we voluntarily give those points away as tainted then hahaha
  17. Just noticed how much that makes the bald coach on the right look completely like a Sontaran from Dr Who...
  18. Yeah they were very poor on the break, they wanted to control game bt were totally unable to and they barely threatened for most the game. When they did try and stretch the game and get it going end to end they couldnt sort out final ball at all. I think they lack cool heads on the pitch to take sting out of games. They needed to slow down the game and hit us on break when they got a chance, we were so fired up they needed to quieten the crowd.
  19. No he's gone 4-3-3 and I think it took a while to get us passing at all and then Burn and Schar became first choice that has worked out. Been a bit less possession focused and the big surprise from his reputation was we have been largely (with a few notable exceptions) very solid. He's mainly got the whole team pressing harder and as season gone on higher up the pitch.
  20. what a wonder a good coach is to make players better. The sheer stupidity of ashley sticking with bruce, with every day he drained quality out of players and reduced their value. Thats the insane thing, he could have sucked way more money out of us if he wasnt too lazy to.
  21. hmmm i see, and saka, martinelli, odegaard and smith rowe are all exciting, but they are young and not quite consistent yet. You are right they should outweigh kane and son, but they don't, kane and son are that much better that you can have a much more meh team behind them (kulesevski looks very good too mind)and you are going to get more points
  22. im pretty sure ben white has had better games, he is coming back form injury. Arsenal are not that bad a team, but they are a team where all the discourse is hysterical. They have fallen short of top 4 which they really should have managed basically out of a fair amount of luck and incompetance elsewhere but they are, as carragher pointed out, no way the fourth best team in the league. They dont need massive investment, need a statement midfielder and a decent striker and their first choice cbs to stay fit and they'll be decent enough. They are a long long long way off chelsea, man city and liverpool though, but everyone else is.
  23. i know but when analysing why arsenal lost a bit of it has to be maybe they came across a really good team who played really well. Part of this era when everyone gets so angry at their own team feels to me that a lot of fans forget there is another team on the pitch all together
