  3. What, the press make out a black player has an attitude problem for dubious reasons? Never!
  4. Yes players hand influenced the game seems reasonable to me tbh
  5. When nowhere near the ball going high and straight into a players ankle out of control should always be a red without much ambiguity. The ambiguity comes when player is on the borderline in terms of how fast teh tackle, if they just touch the ball a bit. This tackle should be a red every time
  6. Of course that is a red card! Commentators need looking at VAR working well there except again, why did it take so long, it's so fucking obviously a red.
  7. fucking hate booing players just cos they joined another team as if thats enough to hate a player, it used to be reserved for players who left under a cloud too soon etc. Perez gave us a large chunk of his career and served us well and we got good money for him.
  8. Miggy gets no luck, half the time that bounces in off the keeper
  9. I read it as a joke about Bruce being racist but think maybe not super wise to actually write it out like that
  10. I wonder if Bruce called Ferguson for advice before the game this time "Boss boss any tips to have another one over on Ole?" "Roll over and fuck off" "Love you boss"
  11. I dunno, dont mind gayle not that he's good but he's not Joelinton. Really would have put in Hayden for safety.
  12. He's very young and he and his brother are not going to become super consistent brilliant players overnight
  13. One day they'll forget to edit out the 'please he has my kids' part
  14. We feel in a false position, we clearly aren't very good all visual evidence suggests so, but we are tough to beat so get results when we get a scrappy goal in. The false Rafa narrative is that we played super negative all season, we didn't, we were defensive but second half of season we were excellent. Bruce does deserve credit for keeping players onside, being practical when it comes to keeping same defensive shape and somehow getting these points. I still hold serious reservations about his actual acumen, his on the pitch tactical changes are nearly always rubbish as well. The problem is of course and always has been an owner willing to not buy Rondon and instead spunk everything on Joelinton for mysterious reasons. Selling Perez (albeit I slightly suspect this was long in the pipeline regardless) also would leave any manager with a team without the ability to score a lot. I thought Bruce would be a total disaster and have to hold my hands up he clearly isn't even if we still look utter pants just get results somehow. The real disaster is that this is the acceptable new normal rather than the feeling under Rafa that he could build something. We will potter around midtable until Ashley sells half the squad under him and then get relegated again or something in the future.

Bruce won't change a defence that's working, even if no ability to play out from back in there. He's the most if it ain't broke manager out the
  16. He's done alright but the attention to detail is gone, Rafa would never fall into the trap of just playing the same team if they played alright previous game, I know that's not a totally unreasonable pool of thought, but for example while our CBs have done very well our possession has been terrible (then making defence look good for having to make more last ditch tackles etc), this would be fixed by at least just one of Schar or Lejeune coming in now they are available as they actually can play out from the back. I suspect this change will only happen under Bruce when we lose a game or two. People have totally forgotten how much of a tune Rafa had got out of us second half of last season, now without Rondon and Perez and them not being adequately replaced was always going to mean we struggled but it's like we've reset and I think we look permanently like a team that will probably finish 14th, which for a lot is probably good enough and pundits think is all we should aim for anyway. We spent £40m on a striker. I still can't get over how many people a) believe that Ashley has invested a lot of money in players rather than spent what we've sold, and b) don't understand that it's also the incompetence of what players we buy etc and not allowing manager input into signings. Honestly with sale of Perez probably inevitable, if we'd rather than buy Joelinton with that pile of money bought rondon, kept Rafa, got ASM and a Perez replacement we'd have built on that season before, be in a much stronger position and not spent any more money than we have, instead Steve Bruce is getting praised to the moon for exceeding rock bottom expectations rather than anything particularly special.
  17. Shelvey has always had quality the problem has been getting consistency out of him. If he plays well for a period he can be a real difference maker but some games you can't trust him to do the midfield work he needs to do (especially when deployed in a midfield 2). If he keeps playing like this fair play to him but he will drift, which I think is why Rafa lost patience with him, how was he supposed to play him when he didn't know which one would turn up? Bruce will play him till he's rubbish 3 games in a row then drop him, which could be 9 points dropped. In a midfield 3 you maybe can afford for him to not be paying attention for the defensive side but not in this team. Makes me miss cabaye whom never shirked the defensive side. Regardless, fair play to Bruce for getting Shelvey playing well again, maybe this time it will stick.

    Joelinton

I am just not quite sure what he does, he doesn't seem to poach much, he doesn't seem to want to turn last defender and sprint through on goal, and while he is alright technically his hold up play isn't good enough for him to brint ASM and Almiron into the game in the manner of Firminio. He may have promise, and maybe he'll find his feet and start scoring but there's a while to go imo.
