Sigh wish we'd made some sort of europe. At least part of me feels a bit less robbed from the PSG game considering we couldn't win this game and not winning at home against PSG and even a point against dortmund going through would be somewhat a fluke. I'm way more angry at how furious some people are that this squad on its last legs is struggling, top 4 last season was a miracle! Dan Burn scored against PSG in the Champions League! We have beaten Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa this season and the only reason we aren't in a strong position to get out the champions league group stage is one of the worst refereeing decisions of all time. Things aren't that bad! yes our away form needs to improve! Yes we probably won't see us full strength again till next season but jesus were some of you here or just trapped in hyperbaric chambers for teh whole Ashley era? Is suddenly winning the only thing that matters? We lack depth have had terrible injury luck, things will get better, for the first time in a long time all the things that are wrong I know the club will actually address! We are poor away from home away from the fatigue excuse, it needs to be addressed, it will be I am sure. We are poor right now, most our squad isn't fit most teams would struggle. Europe will be tough this season, it will always be tough, we overachieved last season. I am not going to get too upset over a little bad run. Anyone who is going to lose their shit because we can't replicate last season's miraculous 4th place with half the squad has lost the run of themselves.

Yeah I had read he thought of himself more as a midfielder was more coached into full back so can't take credit of picking that up purely from his playing. It may also be my bias to full backs that look to enjoy defending and bias against the blessed trent alexander arnold

Oh yeah, I feel a lot in the media are desperate for our owners to be impatient short termist new money idiots, as that's more fun to write about, critique and less likely to do anything. We're doing everything sensibly and it's showing up some of the normal loved big clubs as being somewhat stupid in their managerial and transfer policies. What annoys me more mind is when I see the occaisional one of our fans getting all expectant that top 4 is now the normal, it will be but we vastly overachieved last season lol. We may do it again, doubt it with these injuries, the whole project seemed planned to get there for the 24/25 season not straight away, this season always going to be fucking tough because of it! There's definitely a lot of pundits who think Howe not getting top 4 will lead to pressure from owners and fans alike and i just can't see it.

Honestly I just trust Howe's judgement at this point, if Howe thinks he's worth £30m i am sure he will do, he seems rated enough for that to be a bargain. He's done ok when i've seen him but not entirely sure he's a full back, he is technically great but hadn't yet got the defensive side figured out fully imo which I'm sure will come with time, but he looks a bit like a Zinchenko to me, i.e. a midfielder who can play there rather than a great left back. All this is very early to say, even if he wasn't young and still learning haven't seen enough to commit to a full opinion

F365 were at it with their managerial sack list that Howe is doing well but super rich owners will apparently turn on him fast if results go a bit wrong and the likes of mourinho become available...yeah you totally poach Dan ashworth from Brighton to sack off a manager who has built a proper team for fucking mourinho that makes sense...

I think Southampton fans knew he would be sold, probably disappointed it wasn't more but considering his injury record and them dropping into the championship knew probably inevitable. Think they needed a reset and chance to build new team so the sales probably good for the club long term

i really dont know what ten hag does. Their good form last season seemed fairly sensible pragmatic stuff of solid defense and some efficient goal scoring, but it was still kinda counter attacking footy. Does ten hag want to control games? they don't seem to, do they want to press high? they don't seem to, do they want to sit back and defend? again they don't seem to.
