  1. Hey everyone let's play illness top trumps!
  2. Remember being pelted by coins below them in the leazes after beating them a while ago so quite happy to beat these lot
  3. Portsmouth scoring in last minute of injury time got to really suck for the carlisle away fans about to set off back
  4. Burnley are the platonic ideal of a team that are going to go straight back down despite everyone all season saying how good they look
  5. In fairness he was really bad at bringing Bruce his 11am twix
  6. TAA is only a right back really because he can put in great crosses from that position, otherwise he is pretty poor, albeit his crossing really is that good that it does compensate some of the time. I am not convinced he is a central midfielder either, if anything he is a really old fashioned wide right winger for me but that position is just dead

I mean, no-one forced you to post
  8. I don't get this. Our salaries are modest compared to the champions league teams we are competing against. I get how if not in sync with rest of europe this could be harmful but look this is how man u and chelsea buy their way back to the top 4 after mismanagement, get the players with ludicrous wages. We are competing at the top through sensible transfers and good management not offering ludicrous wages. I don't know why we would be slamming wage cap proposals, we can be fuckign smarter than Man U, Chelsea etc, and any hit on the ability of people to outbid us for players through silly wages can only help. It won't happen, especially with the Saudi league poaching. One day we will be offering highest wages too but tbh, I am fearing that day. Jadon Sancho's wages dwarf Miggy's wages. Who is better off is all I will say.

    Joelinton

Honestly, if we don't win anything during his stay with club (I'm hopeful we will) still want the lad to go down in club history as an absolute beast for us. Adore him, should never be forgotten.
  10. It's sort of interesting, although it's kinda not new, in ways it's close to the actual old Total Football idea of all players able to play all positions, however that evolved away more to have fluidity but still you know a CB is a CB. Keegan loved to turn his CBs into defensive players mind, albeit that was more to make things more attacking one feels. We shall see if it is the next big thing but instituting it will be difficult with international side particularly one with lots of high profile players all over the world, one thing to do it with a smaller country where you can get the players together more young and pick from a league more with similar styles. I just watched some explanations of it and it ends up looking, oh that looks like all the players going to one side of the pitch, all you need is someone good at distributing and you can bypass most the team...
  11. Salary cap would be great for us surely, our salaries are still way behind the likes of city chelsea and even spurs. Having said that I predict it will be placed at such a point that it is basically pointless if it happens for the above reason, or it somehow will be targeted only at us, like salary cap for teams managed by eddie howe in the rules or something
  12. It's wild to me seeing him play for Burnley and Azpilucueta was playing for Chelsea, that Chelsea squad doesn't feel very long ago at all

    England

Very long check for a very obvious penalty
  14. No doubt he will get there, taking time to adapt is normal. Paqueta looked hopeless most of last season for west ham before starting to come good towards end of the season, hopefully Tonali will get there sooner but we know working under Howe is physically demanding we are going to have to get used to players taking time to adapt. Grealish at City too took time, it happens all the time. It's clear he has the talent, hell he was part of the team that put PSG to the sword.
  15. Shame but injury hit tired squad, should be better with more bodies back after break
  16. There was an argument on a podcast about them losing early in the cup, one reasonable one was saying wouldn't a cup run be the most enjoyable thing for teh fans this season and the other was like no understandable staying solidly in premier league is most important thing. Like that's any fun. Feel sorry for some fans putting up with endless just got to soak up the premier league millions attitude. They must look enviously at Brighton doing what they are with no greater budget really.
  17. Any word on a release clause? Having said that not worried, he plays with his heart on his sleeve, an unhappy bruno will be half the player regardless so it's our job to match his ambition on the pitch. Absolutely love him, seems to bring joy on the pitch. As much as it's mentioned his brazilian football style and his rapport with Joelinton but he seems to get on with every player. Did Dan Burn ever think he'd be celebrating goals with a Brazilian international?
  18. Would be very impressive to win 2-2 in a game with no penalty shoot out
  19. I get the annoyance at Micah Richards totally, his analysis is pretty poor but I have moderately enjoyed rest is football mainly for the first hand stories from Linekar, Shearer and Richards, but yes can be a slog. However todays episode with Thierry Henry I really really recommend cos Henry talks really openly about his mental health during playing (he realised he was always looking for approval from his dad he never could get when he really needed it), he comes accross as incredibly self aware of himself in a way few are. Also found his other stuff really good. Don't really hear many interviews with players unguarded etc about it and have to slightly credit Richards for it cos it's clear he did it cos they're friends.

    Kevin Keegan

Young colleague at work fell in love with football through watching the lionesses, and is slowly getting more involved in watching the game more widely. the idea that people would prefer analysis from men rather than women would be just the thing to drive her right away. There are good and bad pundits(and god knows there are plenty of them), everything else is just nonsense. Some of the female pundits have been bad, and i do understand ex players getting a bit annoyed at pundits not playing at that level, but there is a range of different punditry and analysis that can be delivered. As mentioned Emma Hayes was an excellent pundit when she's not managing, would like to see more of her.
