Did the French have a much bigger provisional squad before the full one announced? Wonder if he was going to be in the wider squad but the french FA asked ours for medical update and they said he wasn't fit so he didn't make the cut of the extended squad. Footballers always think they are the best, and it may be obvious to everyone else he was never going to make the squad it may not be to him, and equally he may think he could have miraculously shrugged off injury also probably bollocks

He's a mercurial player, and I think the pressing game Eddie is implementing doesn't really suit his type, modern high level football doesn't really accomodate passengers like it used to due to the nature of the demands on players to press in certain areas etc. I do get the frustration with him, however he can be a joy to watch. It is so unfortunate he got injured when he did tbh, people seem to have forgotten he was trying to buy into Howe's style just before, he had worked hard, and he absolutely destroyed Kyle Walker against City. I don't think he will ever be consistent in defensive duties and even when he's trying I don't think he's very good at them, but we do have a problem with creating goals which has been masked by Almiron becoming Messi like. When he's on the pitch we are more dangerous, it's just always going to be a bit of a tradeoff, security at the back or danger going forward. I imagine he will get moved on when we pull in more high class attacking talent who do everything, but I will be very fond of him and he definitely does not deserve a lot of the hate at him.

Yeah I think moving to a whole new continent, putting him in a non-english speaking environment may have been a consideration for such a young lad. Huge change, here at least he is close buy, has aussie team mates who he already knows a bit, can get used to the weather and may be less of a shock.

He's a hard worker but his composure when with a chance is just terrible, when he had that one on one chance he didn't have the confidence to knock it past defender and race but rather tried to hold it up and couldn't keep the ball. His crossing is so poor too.

Lewis was a reasonable punt on a young talent, loan him out or sell him if any offers, hopefully can rebuild his confidence and his career but very unlikely to be here to be honest

Well done sheff wed, better team. Our second string is so far short of our first tier, we have no depth and that's why I don't think champions league qualification will be easy at all. Some players there tonight who should be in league 1 let alone in premier league team. Some not done themselves any favors.

Fucking hate this attitude tbh. I want a cup. I want the players to fight for every game, that's how you get the right mentality. This ditch everything for the premier league, fuck that. It's never alright to lose to a league 1 side.

Definitely need a midfielder, and I would prefer a defensively minded one who can pass very calmly and play keep ball. Our intensity is our strength and our pressing, but there will be some times we need to slow things down a bit and hold the ball. Also we are too reliant on Bruno I feel, not that that's bad, teh squad should be built round him but he gets injured and we dont have anyone any where near his quality near his position
