I think we will see a fullback come in sooner or later because Simpson is out of contract in the summer, whether that happens in January or summer is up for debate.

Coloccini and Garay would be great for them IMO, there would still be the major issue at LB though as there seems to be no quality in that position to pick from.

Williamson really isn't the problem with this.... The problem is not winning the 2nd ball, Williamson usually wins the first ball and knocks the header down into an area. The problem with that is that no one seems to be gambling and getting on the end of that knock down and the other team gets to it first. If we able to get on to the knock down more often i.e. the second ball then we would probably have more success.

Really loved watching the Cabaye-Tiote-Anita trio against Bordeaux would love to see it again tbh. Although i would like to see Tav instead of Simpson purely because if Cisse is on the right it would be good for a fullback that can provide a bit of width when Cisse goes inside. That and Simpson has played a few games recently.

And i suppose Lucas, Carrick, Arteta, Barry etc etc do? the physicality thing is well overplayed. Besides i think your find most would see him in the role he had against Bordeaux which isn't really "defensive midfield" that's more Jonas role when we played 4-3-3 last season. None of those are 5ft 5" and about 9 stone wet through though. Barry and Lucas are strong players as well, so fail to see your angle? I personally like the look of Anita, but he does seem miles off the pace. No coincidence he's looked good in Europe both times he's played, also we've started with a 4-3-3 of sorts in those games. Seems much more rushed and panicky in the Prem. I would not say any of them are strong, they are all intelligent players with proper football brains with superb distribution and positional sense. Physicality is not really a must at the top level in that position especially when most teams dominate the ball it's more about intelligence and positioning there really isn't many enforcer types around any more. Anyway as majority of said give him time and he will come good.

I'm only 22 but i can't say i have seen a better defender for us in my life time, it was Woodgate before but Colo has surpassed him. They are both in my starting XI from players i have watched though

No one impressed in that half, in fact there was worse performers than him in the first half. Anyway with the direct style we are playing at the moment is hardly going to suit a player like him, which you could say about a lot of our players quite frankly.

I often find with end product as far as fullbacks go at least that it's the last thing to improve in their development. Take Baines for example, at Wigan he was a good player but his end product is no where close like it is now. The more experienced Santon gets and the more confidence he gets from playing every week is likely when things like end product will come. But the rest of his game is coming along fantastically and surely won't be too long before he starts to get international recognition.

Considering how that club has been run i'm surprised they haven't already.
