"The two goals were not system based"? Have you heard yourself? Well they wasn't was they? one was from a throw in and one was Santon running down the wing and cutting inside. Santon does that irrelevant of systems and a throw in has no relevance. -
Which 4-4-2 doesn't allow because of how simplistic it is and all about rigid movements and lack of midfield options and doesn't allow the movement you describe. f***ing hell. Someone tell Sir Alex all his titles could have been won more easily. Our 4-4-2 and Ferguson's is very different..... Ferguson has always had flying wingers that puts crosses in, 1 striker up top and 1 striker coming back to link the midfield. I was talking about our 4-4-2..... the strikers don't link play, we don't have flying wingers of the Valencia and Nani mould or Beckham and Giggs etc etc. Beckham a flying winger. Yeah i should have mentioned that Beckham wasn't a flying winger, i initially was just going to say Nani and Valencia but felt like adding Giggs and Beckham but forgot to mention Beckham wasn't a flying winger. Also why would we be raped with 4-3-3 in our 7 game winning run we conceded 1 goal using 4-3-3.

1. Against Man Utd we have the players for 4-4-2 2. Against Chelsea the two goals were not system based, 1st goal was Santon running down the wing and putting in a pass for Cisse and the 2nd goal came from a Shola flick on from a throw in. 3. We have never used 4-3-3 with our best players against a top 6 side. It's pretty obvious that 4-4-2 restricts us going forward and quite frankly in 4-3-3 we are solid too. -
This. I'm not bothered about today at all i'm bothered about the long term implications that using 4-4-2 has.

What concerns? That we're not as good as Chelsea on their own patch? We created a decent amount of chances and didn't give them too many clear cut ones either. On a different day, we could easily have come away with something. What more did you expect? I'm concerned that we are buying technical players that are designed for modern systems such as 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 and we use 4-4-2. It's a concern i have had for a long time it has nothing to with today's result. It's an overriding frustration because of how we played 4-3-3 and how it suits the team and we simply just play better and then we go back to 4-4-2 which restricts our best players. We lost today fair enough, you can lose games especially away to a team like that but it's the fact we are using system that restricts out best players is what frustrates me and it's not just today that has made me feel this way. -

Being concerned about 4-4-2 restricting our best players and this has been proven more than once and not just today, is panicking? righto -

It's nothing to do with losing to Chelsea..... It's being concerned of the long term implications of playing 4-4-2 and restricting some of our best players. I'm not bothered about losing to Chelsea, i'm bothered about the long-term implications of ignoring the fact that 4-4-2 really doesn't work for Cisse, Cabaye and Ben Arfa from a goal scoring and creating sense. -
Mata and Hazard do most of their best work inside so that's a poor excuse really and anyway last season if there's a problem midfielders come across and forwards drop back. I actually want to be able to keep the ball and create chances and play to our players strengths which 4-4-2 does not do. It's not like we have been poor defensively with 4-3-3 anyway. Anyway your acting like 4-4-2 was a game plan to stop Chelsea, it wasn't it's Pardew using a system which makes Ba happy that cannot be argued anymore.

I'm more pissed off with the long term implications of playing like this than i am losing the game. It's not losing the game that annoys me, it's a difficult game which any team will find it difficult to take points from but the obvious problems tactically is what annoys me. As it's restricting the potential of the squad and how far we can go with it. -
1. Ba and Cisse don't work as a partnership both are better as the lone striker. 2. 4-4-2 limits Cabaye and Ben Arfa's influence 3. We struggle to keep the ball and create chances. 4. having a flat midfield makes it easy for the likes of Hazard and Mata and similar players to get inbetween our midfield and defence. 4-3-3 negates all these problems, don't see what the issue is we was great with 4-3-3 we continue to buy players who suit 4-3-3 but use 4-4-2 i really don't understand it. Personally i'm annoyed and frustrated by the long term implications of ignoring 4-3-3 more than i am losing the game. If we keep with 4-4-2 we will never reach the full potential that this squad has.

Cisse just doesn't work with a partner he's one of those strikers that work better as the only central striker. Cisse won't get anywhere near last season's total if he's partnered with someone. Also i don't agree on Chelsea i don't think they have been that good, we have just been average they just did enough. If we played anything like our best we would have got something IMO. -

Not really, Cech has hardly had a save to make, which again always happens in 4-4-2 we struggle to create chances. -

Bit hard for a striker to do something when there's been no chances created for him.... -
Yep because this is the first time we have been poor with 4-4-2 I don't mind a 2 striker system but flat 4-4-2 is just horrible, we will never reach the level 4-3-3 can take us with a flat 4-4-2. I'm not too bothered about losing i'm more bothered about the implications of 4-4-2 long term if you can't see the issues then your blind i'm sorry. Do i really have to explain every single reason why 4-3-3 is so much better in every way imaginable?

Against a weakened chelsea side thinking about two massive cup finals. The point is we've proven that we can play well with a 4-4-2. Before Cisse, Ben Arfa etc etc came a massive part of the side..... not one thing about it works. Cisse scored 2 in the corresponding fixture when we were playing 4-4-2 last season... Yes i know but both goals had nothing to do with system..... 1 was Santon running down the wing and passing to Cisse and he scores an outstanding goal the other was that ridiculous goal from a throw in. 4-4-2 limits Cabaye and Ben Arfa's influence, makes us more vulnerable defensively etc etc and that's without mentioning the fact that Ba and Cisse as a 2 clearly don't work. I have no idea why people keep defending 4-4-2 it's clearly inferior in every way and everytime we use we are crap by comparison. Everytime Pardew changes to 4-3-3 from 4-4-2 during a match and how much we improve should be enough to confirm this. So when we play well in a 4-4-2 it is despite the system and when we play well in 4-3-3 it is because of the system? Hard to argue against that. I don't think we really played well against Chelsea tbh, we were efficient and took our chances. In any case it's not about today and losing it's about the long term implications of using 4-4-2 if we persist with it we will never get anywhere near the level that we could have done with 4-3-3. It's extremely frustrating. -

Meltdown. How the f*ck is it meltdown? i have been saying the same ever since we stopped using 4-3-3 it's a clearly superior system from back to front but we don't use it in favour of an out-dated system which is poor offensively, possession wise and defensively. Pushes Cabaye back, Pushes Ben Arfa back, gives Cisse no space.... it's just moronic. -

If we keep to 4-4-2 we won't even finish top 8, it just doesn't suit these players simple as. Might as well bench Ben Arfa if we are going to keep using 4-4-2, it's an utter waste of time. We won't even get close to top 4 with this system. -
Funny how i have gone from hating Swansea's style of play to loving it in 2 games So much better than the passing sideways bullshit they played last season.
-
Yeah he does all the simple things extremely well.

After seeing that snippet from Douglas about replacing Cisse with Carroll i'm not even going to bother to read that as it's absolute utter wank.
