West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Mole_Toonfan replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Unfortunately for all the guys that want a versatile, pacy striker it seems Pardew disagrees and wants a aerial presence as a 3rd striker instead. This has been made painfully obvious with the pursuit of De Jong and now Carroll. I can see both sides of the argument, as he would give us a different option but at same time the pacy versatile striker would be committing to 4-3-3. As long as the price is decent and we don't start playing awful football ( i don't see why we would btw) then i think it's a good move. Even if there are better options, but i do think we have to buy a significant upgrade to Simpson as well as it's painfully obvious that fullbacks is still a major weakness that teams will exploit. Significant upgrade to Simpson and buy Carroll as well keeping everyone then i'm happy, if not then meh. -

This all over. There is a romance with having him back and taking the p*ss out of Liverpool financially, but I worry that he isn't the right player to fit in to that 4-3-3 system that seems to really make us cut through teams and create chances. I guess he would help our poor 4-4-2 system slightly better, but why go back to that when we clearly are more powerful when at 4-3-3. Exactly how i feel but meh. -
Apparently he's just spoken to his agent and Seydoux has said many times he would never sell to PSG. In any case i'm not that bothered because i think he will stay at Lille tbh and we will look at alternatives before the deadline.

Don't worry he'd go right into Santon's pocket.

Watching them he seems to be playing deeper now and more of a distributor than last season, Hazard is going to get loads of points in FF though. -

I took Hazard out before the weekend, nearly added him back in for this week and changed my mind -
Dont talk like that, thats a Sophie's choice. Agreed lol, i would sell neither at this stage but it just shows how ridiculously important i feel Colo is to us.
-
I would sell Cisse before i sell Colo and i mean that. Anyway hope they are right about us being in talks with Douglas, be very nice to get another CB in. Also the fact we are supposedly in talks with Douglas means Colo is leaving is lulz worthy at best

Let's roll with it as Stubbs is that much of a c*nt Anyway hopefully his little kid is ok, that's the most important thing before any football related matters.

I'm still not that concerned, Chelsea's problems with playing more expansively are still very clear. Terry, Cole, Mikel, Lampard and Ivanovic are not very comfortable when they have to close down and get back again defensively. Better teams will exploit this, the one way Chelsea can rectify this is by going back to sitting and countering but doing that would limit Mata and Hazard's influence so you don't want to do that. Chelsea have the players going forward to play this way but they don't have the midfield or defence to play this way and not be exploited defensively by better teams. In all in long term i'm not convinced yet, we will be a big challenge for them just like they will for us should be a good game.

Basically he said he turned down Newcastle, Liverpool and a few other clubs for QPR and Mark Hughes. Didn't come out and say that but he might as well have done.

Tbf to Hatem the reason he's been inconsistent over his career is because he was never given a run of starts in the first team.... How can one be consistent without consistent game time? the run of games he got at the end of season was the first time he started more 5 games in succession in his career. Thus consistency has arrived.
-
Absolutely brilliant, hopefully he plays a part.

Neither us or Valencia would pay that 7m euros sure but 11 no way Cissokho despite his recent form is still a significant upgrade on Simpson and would be pleased none the less if we signed him, but i do prefer Debuchy.

We don't know tbf, we are all making assumptions. ( mind you i'm more guilty of that than anyone ) -
The only way that makes any sense at all from an Arsenal perspective is if Walcott leaves.
-
Yep, well certainly if he could agree a price. Indeed, it's just important now to get a upgrade on Simpson whether that's Debuchy or not i don't think it matters. Simpson is a lot better then even myself have given him credit for but fact of matter is we will only go so far with a RB who can't contribute going forward. It's past Debuchy now, for me it's just important to bring in an significant upgrade.
