Well done Pards, players, club and fans. Well deserved!
  2. That's the thing with you young 'uns - you think FIFA is realistic! Now then, I've just been into the loft to get Subbuteo out - and funnily enough I picked the same formation on that! Now I've just got to mend all the players' legs. (Where did I leave my airfix glue?), then put the number transfers on their backs - but it's getting tricky on my eyes, and the numbers only go to 11.
  3. Regardless of who we get, as it'll be August, let's hope we get somewhere near a beach, and a Jet2 or Easyjet destination, for 2 or 3 days in the sun. 'Cos we'll not get a bloody summer here!

Being an excellent spotter of managerial talent, I was more than happy for Hughton to go (but badly treated), and for Pards to take over. HONEST! However, I couldn't remotely believe that we would have achieved what we have done this season. Brilliant job by all at the club - Pards, Carver and Co. in the backroom, the players, the fans, and yes, also the owner / Chairman (except of course the standing and renaming debacles). Can't wait for next season now, and to see who comes in during the summer. Anyone who doesn't want to stay can f*** off for the money, because you'd have to be mad to leave this club at the moment. The good times are back!!!
  5. Reality check. Mightbe good for us in the long run, but doesn't make it any easier to deal with today.
  6. Just got to keep doing what we have been doing for last few games, take nothing for granted and keep the work ethic. And well done Southampton. Ha Ha Fat Sam!
  7. I know it's full backs and a centre half we have the greatest need for, but has anyone mentioned Junior Hoillet? Young, 21 years old, Canadian so won't miss ACN. Always looks a threat in what has largely been a very poor Blackburn team, and scores some good goals.
  8. What's wrong with you? Watching last week's Cisse goals in club with 5 pints before you post the team on here is my ritual!
  9. Just looking forward to the next game. Great run of results in different circumstances. We knew that Swansea keep the ball well, but beat them - only 3rd home defeat. Bolton will be fighting hard, but we need to believe we have enough to beat them. Injuries lead to changes, but there is a real flexibility to this team. Should win - will also accept 1.0
  10. Great 3 points. Fantastic first half. HBA, Cisse and Ba wonderful together. However, don't think I've ever been so nervous when 3-0 up, and when they scored .... really thought we were going to press the self-destruct button by sitting off them. Really annoyed when Colo was left on the pitch when he needed to come off, even more angry when HBA subbed AGAIN! I really didn't know what shape we had after that - I would have taken Cisse off (before injury), and put Ba up front with HBA playing off him, and a proper defensive midfielder, preferably Gosling on. But what the hey, we won.. great starting line-up, some negatives about the second half, but a very happy position to be in at the moment. Hope not signing a centre half in January doesn't bite us in the arse!
  11. In the club with The Guv. The Broon's going down well!
  12. He's barely a Conference player for me. Can't pass, can't head out properly, and not physical enough. Pardew needs to look at his stats about Willo's percentages.
  13. Agree totally with Parky's initial post and his later summary. From the start of his appointment, I said we should give him a chance, and there were real improvements defensively - continued into this season. Despite keeping a position high up the table, we are struggling massively since losing Saylor. Willo is so out of his depth it is unreal. Massively frustrating that Simpson gets picked over and over whilst the right side is such a visible weakness. We all have our opinions on Ben Arfa - I am a massive fan. OK, he loses the ball at imes, but look at how many chances he MADE for himself yesterday - don't look at how many times he gave the ball away. If that is the only criteria to judge him by, then use the same criteria for everybody else in the team. I just feel so much for the lad. Having to sit on the bench while Pardew picks a midfield with Perch and Obertan against Spurs, then being brought on yesterday at 2-1 which immediately becomes 2-2. He needs to be able to play in a team where somebody OCCASIONALLY puts him into space, instead of him having to try and do it all. Far too little movement / ambition / vision / creativity etc etc And that is down to Pardew, and hence the original post. Massively frustrated. Then I got home in time to watch the last 15 minutes of the rugby and England throw a lead against Wales away. NOT A GOOD WEEKEND!
  14. Oh well, it's any old pub in Tenerife to watch the game. Hope it's hot, and there's plenty of Gooners around to celebrate with us!! 2-3 (to us). Come back from 2-1 down, Cisse gets our opener, HBA draws us level, and Ba gets the winner. Just off down the bookies ....
  15. I'd run down to the bookies and put an accumulator on if I was you....
  16. The money he has wasted on dross. Bloody hell, he's up there with Souness in terms of squandered millions. (From Otter above) It must have been put on here many, many times. The hypocrisy of the football world (press and ignorant fans) towards the way that the miserable Glaswegian git is revered when he comes back to Liverpool (after how many years?) compared to the ridicule for the Toon bringing back KK, just staggers me. Dalglish ripped a wonderful team (NUFC) to shreds, buying (mainly) crap. And is doing a fairly poor job this time round again in thiefland. And as for Sourness. Back in the pub after the Villa game, trying to remember when we last had 2 real centre forwards ... oh yes, when that other Scottish arse***e sold Craig, Craig Bellamy because he wanted to show he was harder! Complete tossers. The two of them.
  17. Just think of Mick Lowes commentary when we beat Liverpool (PLEASE!!!) and finish above the red b******s... Maggie Thatcher ... Winston Churchill ... Kenny Dalglish ..... Andy Carroll .... Jose Enriquez .... Craig Bellamy ..... Michael Owen .... Alan Kennedy .... Didi Hamann.
  18. Since this is all about "What ifs" What if .... Premiership top 3 at end of season, Manure, Citeh and Spurs (in no particular order). Toon in 4th. (CL spot - achievable, but with good odds). Chelsea finish 5th (EL spot) Arsenal finish 6th, but win CL. (Taking our CL spot - down into EL) Liverpool win League Cup (EL spot) FA Cup Final - Spurs v 5under1and. Regardless of result, Mackems qualify for EL. So what a nightmare. We end up 4th - with a marvellous 16 match run-in, but end up in the same competition as KKs horrible lot, the great unwashed, and Chelski. Could it happen?
  19. ToonZA absolutely spot on. Interesting that Cabaye has better English than Simpson on Twatter. Much better at footie too! Getting moe annoyed as night goes on.
  20. An abject performance. Guthrie my MoM. Why taken off? Pardew 0/10 for shape, selections and substitutions. Any talk of Loven and Oby being the right thing is so wide of the mark. I repeat my words of last week that a team with Shola, Best and Willo in is just not good enough. And Simpo. Better squad needed. Really unhappy.
  21. For me, today was one of those games that shows how much we still need to strengthen if we are to make real progress. ACN or not, we can't be left with Shola and Best starting, and Loven on the bench. Apart from the occasional good goal, they do not have the desired quality. Likewise Willo. Midfield has strength in depth, we have good keepers, but need 2 more centre halves, 1 more strikers, and 1 or 2 full backs to mount a sustained challenge. Get rid of the dross.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Also on HBA, Pardew has talked about him not being fully fit yet. I hope an interview challenges him about this now. I just love watching HBA and want to see him get the amount of ballbthat Jonas and Obertan get.

Agree totally. Shame the crowd wasn't bigger and noisier to make this even more obvious.
