Well yeah, it's better than snidey dickheads like Pardew and McClaren sucking Ashley off at every opportunity. Problem is this strategy didn't end up particularly productive for the club last time. Rafa is coming from a position of strength. The fans love him. The players seemingly all respect him. Up until recently at least (and I've had this backed up by people close to) he and Charnley have had an excellent relationship. He's showing his hand. It's up to Ashley now to stick to his promises or lose the best thing that's happened to this club in a decade. aye

Is there really a difference? We see more successful foreign managers here because it's the PL, they come from all over. Go to Italy and I bet there are hundreds of absolutely shite managers. Nationality shouldn't come in to it, get the best man for the job no matter where he's from.

There's a ridiculous amount of money sploshing about in the Premier League and the sums mentioned don't seem particularly excessive (in the context of things), £4k a month bung? That's £48k a year, a fair wedge don't get me wrong but I just wonder what's going on with those who are a bit smarter than bog sam. Tip of the iceberg stuff
